If Canadians have been complicit in or perpetrated war crimes against Palestinians in Gaza on behalf of the IDF, then they should be very afraid.

Actions have consequences. Every last one of them needs to be prosecuted for their role in Israel's barbarism and genocidal cruelty. No exceptions. #FAFO
Didn't anyone tell the soldiers in the IDF that if they are complicit in war crimes they can be charged?
There is a lot of video evidence out there.
All those selfies are going to come back to bite.
Canadians who are complicit must be held accountable.

‘I’m afraid to go home’: Canadian IDF soldiers fear fallout from war crimes probe
Canada’s probe into the Israel-Hamas conflict doesn’t explicitly target Israelis, but its unclear scope has alarmed Jews amid rising international lawfare against soldiers

Canada’s version of this may just be the convoy thinking taking over the CPC and provincial conservative parties, but that is probably not where it stops
The Republican Party became a Nazi party in order to activate the Nazi vote, and now the Nazis are cleaning house.
I know that this site leans quite left, so I very much hope that people will recognize the significance of this news. The right is cleaving, and the side triumphing — in terms of sheer numbers and media coverage — needs to be understood for exactly what it is: authoritarian and bigoted.

The Pistons being fun and relevant again is brilliant, and I can barely put into words how proud I am of Cade Cunningham.

With Haliburton recovering and Ja Morant sabotaging his marketability and reputation, now is the perfect time for Cade to rise. Excel and Nike had better market him properly.
Detroit Pistons superstar Cade Cunningham has reached a new six-year endorsement agreement to re-sign with Nike – and will receive his own signature shoe with the brand, his representatives at Excel Sports Management told ESPN. His signature shoe is expected to debut in 2026-27.

It's impossible not to notice that the same operatives in UK media that eagerly built Jude Bellingham up to be the national saviour are gleefully tearing him down while taking care not to criticize certain England internationals.

They would *never* treat Phil Foden like this.
Our community is fiercely divided over Jude Bellingham’s place in England’s World Cup side, with some seeing a disruptive ego and others defending a rare talent England must learn to harness

Keir Starmer thinks the only way to combat the fascism and the far-right is to placate them every step of the way by implementing inhumane policies that nobody who elected Labour voted for.

He's literally paving the way for Farage, Reform, and unrepentant racist fascists to seize power in the UK.
Labour MPs aren't facing the deckchair-moving problem of a long-tenured governing party trying to finagle another term.

Their leader is proposing extreme policies that are repugnant to the party's voters, members and its entire system of values.

For the sake of the country, he must be removed.

Confiscating jewellery from survivors of a war zone makes you look like a fucking Nazi. And the obscene thing is, that is the intention. It's there to look appropriately harsh. Indecent. Filthy. A moral stain. And no-one of good character would have ever proposed such a thing in the first place.

Historically, when millions of educated and disillusioned young people realize the social contract is broken beyond repair, it doesn't bode well for democracy.

The speed in which AI is wiping out entry-level jobs should be motivation enough for governments to start implementing UBI.
Chilling piece on employment effects of AI on early careers. Includes this line, which will probably become the norm for many firms: "Managers at Shopify must now justify hiring a human by first explaining why AI can’t do the job."

The whole point of this is the cruelty and sadism. Labour are pandering to their contemptuous vision of the British public as a rabble of mindless racists who want to relish the sight of poor, helpless, racialised people abused; who see those people as inhuman and want them treated as such.
For fairly obvious reasons when people flee their countries of origin to seek asylum elsewhere they can't carry much. Often things like jewellery are all they have to hold onto. This isn't just stripping people of "assets", it is stealing their memories. 57/

It would be helpful if American schools taught kids that Hitler admired US racism and patterned many of his antisemitic laws on our anti-Black laws. Instead, we're teaching the Holocaust less altogether.

Hitler also admired American antisemites like Henry Ford. Bigots attract each other. . . .
Racism is fascism practiced on Black people first.

Hitler based the Nuremberg laws on US Jim Crow. He invaded Russia because he wanted his own California.

The US shifting from a racist country to a fascist country basically means "Start treating everyone like you've always treated Black people."

That the IDF opening fire on UN peacekeepers won't prompt immediate and deafening condemnations from every corner of the globe, a cessation of trade with Israel, economic sanctions, and the expulsion of diplomats is a damning indictment of how useless international law has become.

I'm seeing people wonder why ICE is going after Charlotte.

ICE has been at war with Charlotte's sheriff ever since he won in 2018.

We'd covered this at Bolts back in the day; this quote is from that sheriff:
“When the 8 African American sheriffs took over the largest counties in North Carolina, it became a threat to the good ol’ boy system,” says the sheriff of Charlotte. These new sheriffs broke ties with ICE.

But GOP lawmakers cracked down this week, overbidding the governor’s veto to adopt this law:
North Carolina GOP Is Cracking Down on the Black Sheriffs Who Stood Up to ICE
Boosted by new supermajorities, Republicans are closing in on legislation to mandate more collaboration with ICE and preempt local policies hard-won by immigrants’ rights advocates.

Allowing Willie Green to start *this* season when the wheels had fallen off already is malpractice from the front office, but especially Dumars. He needs to go too.

They don’t need recharging - the humanoids are capable of changing their own batteries, making their presence in production almost independent of humans.

De'Aaron Fox went straight ISO on the last play with Gary Payton Jr. draped all over him. What a gift for the Warriors.

Now the refs are saying no basket. Rubbish.
