I don't know any artist friends who can make a living on their art alone. NONE. They are all hustling constantly to make ends meet.

Last thought but the whole "historically marriage is progressive for women" is completely undermined when you remember that "Bride Price" and "Dowry" are functions of marriage and marriage is 💯 a contract - historically one of ownership, modernly one to gain access to 1100+ privileges

"Why are so many youths/millenials/gen z/etc atheists?"

*points to all the history and current genocides of religious based violence, forced indoctrination, and colonialism* idk I guess it's just not cool anymore

Something about modern events/education and moving away from religious institutions
How appropriate to see a "Buddhist nationalism on the rise" post right after someone insisted in an argument that we have to capitulate to the major religions, name dropping Buddhism + xtians + others

Religion is used as a tool for fascism esp for morality laws

We do not have to put religion first

Maybe the “rise of” framing doesn’t help Westerners accept that religiosity, extremism, and violence are all essential parts of Buddhist history. Trouble accepting this always indicates Buddhism is an empty plaything for some people’s projection, not a multifaceted tradition.

Three babies in Kentucky have died of whooping cough.

They weren’t vaccinated and neither were their mothers.

This is RFK Jr’s legacy. A trail of dead kids who never had a chance.

They didn’t get to decide about vaccination. Adults chose for them & they paid with their life.

The CDC has turned off its vaccine search tool.

The vaccines.gov site now gives an error when you enter a valid zip code.

They also removed text saying “Vaccines can help you stay healthy” and added a banner saying the site is being updated.

I thought this was pretty interesting. “Cameras that automatically capture images of vehicle license plates are being turned off by police in jurisdictions across WA state…after a court ruled the public has a right to access data generated by the technology.”

Washington state cities turn off license plate reader cameras amid ruling on data access
The debate stems from the use of cameras made by Flock Safety, and whether the images and data collected are subject to release under Washington's Public Records Act.

Police have access to massive surveillance networks that track the public whether they are suspects or not. That means probably for every 1 officer caught using the system to harass or spy on people they have feuds with, ex's, activists, journalists, there are probably 100 more we don't know about.

"Historically Monogamy is a step forward for women's rights" can fuck right off.

You can only gain access to certain rights/privileged through marriage, harming all people who dont want Amatonormativity, which harms women and *ALL* people who don't want monogamous marriage

Part of what we lost when newsrooms shifted from dedicated beat reporters to freelancers is the ability to push back/question.

News sites uncritically reprint marketing and propaganda, lending it authority it doesn't deserve and actively contributing to misinformation.

As with Elon, so with Sam.

People need to understand how deeply eugenicist this is.

They’re insinuating that if you “take care of yourself” you will be healthy and should get affordable healthcare.

Disabled people can’t “healthy living” their way out of being disabled.

It’s not a moral failing.

We need healthcare too
Markwayne Mullin on healthcare: "What the president would like to do is say, hey, if you take care of yourself -- you don't smoke, you don't dip, you're not drinking, you're not overweight, you're working out -- then you should pay less than the guy that obviously is not taking care of himself."

This is some "great artists steal" rebrand bullshit that pairs oh so well with a student plagiarizing papers from other academics who make & share vids via YouTube.
Introducing: They Say, We Say, our new campaign that celebrates thinking differently, challenging convention, and shaping what comes next.

In the span of a hour, they stealth edited the article from trans woman to "biological male who identifies as a woman." The BBC isn't fit for purpose.
It looks like that BBC page has been updated in the last few minutes, so that's no longer the last sentence. I think part of it has been moved to this paragraph in the middle of the article, and the age is no longer mentioned:

I've got a jaw clenching game changer for folks-

Your tongue is supposed to *rest at the roof of your mouth*

I recently got a frenectomy (tongue tie snip) b/c a tongue tie kept me from resting my tongue there

My TMJ/jaw clenching has improved SIGNIFICANTLY!!

Look into it esp if you have ADHD
