If you read into Filipino American history in the late 19th to the 20th century, you’ll see A LOT of unionizations, strikes, and other labor actions—all working with other ethnic groups!

(It’s still October and Filipino American History Month, so I got my post in for the year! 🇵🇭🇺🇸)
But his assertion that diversity weakens unions ignores two things. First, labor unions have a long history of multiethnic coalitions. Second, it was the capitalists and political elites who tried to *exploit* ethnic divisions to maintain power. There is only one person here trying to stop unions:

Also, I hope every person who made excuses for Larry, looked the other way over many years, and retaliated for him is feeling a little uncomfortable. No one writes crap like that without being untouchable.

Stepping back from public commitments is a step. It’s also too little too late.
Breaking news: Former Democratic treasury secretary Larry Summers is “deeply ashamed” of his years-long communication with Jeffrey Epstein and will be “stepping back from public commitments,” he said in a statement Monday night.

Many of them are remaking the federal government right now.
there are quite a few white folks who vividly recall and rather miss Jim Crow alive and voting in this country right now
I honestly don’t see how anyone can see it any other way if they are honest. Jim Crow was only ~60 years ago! Are we really pretending that the insane racism just suddenly disappeared? This is to say nothing of the hundreds of examples we all have of seeing casual racism in everyday life

My paper on W.E.B. Du Bois and marginalist wage theory is out at the Journal of Economic Perspectives!

This was a fun and fascinating paper to write. I’ll try to do a thread on it soon.

He's going to step up attempts to "impress" people w/golden wall coverings.

He's going to resort to even more extreme actions, out of desperation.

He--& his--will lie even more than they normally do.

He's going to try even more desperately to grift.

Just...be aware.

Speaking of the value of labelers, here's a cool project from Cornell Tech that is "investigating using automated signals to help users have more context about the accounts they are interacting with."

I'd love to see more academic institutions, media orgs, and NGOs make labelers.

Again part of it could be turnout dynamics

But Spanberger also worked on getting out that community

Including speaking Spanish at end of campaign
