The random perfection of listening to the @pablotorrefindsout.bsky.social episode about Olivia Nuzzi and happening upon Graydon Carter's memoir on the library best bets shelf 🤣

He has these eyes so blue
He's six-foot-two and a little younger than me
We go on cinema dates with Tommy and Cate, true love in 3D
He's fun and weird and smart, likes cheap cigars
And can shotgun a beer like no other
Grabbed his hand in the dark and I pull him to the car
In-a-gadda-da-vida, honey,
Don't you know that i love you?
In-a-gadda-da-vida, baby,
Don't you know that i'll always be true?

She undressed me with her eyes and, somehow, you didn't see
Put her hand on my thigh, felt like a hundred degrees
Said I needed the bathroom, now we're up in her bedroom
With her lips on my neck, I know I probably shouldn't
And it feels so good, I wanna die
In-a-gadda-da-vida, honey,
Don't you know that i love you?
In-a-gadda-da-vida, baby,
Don't you know that i'll always be true?

The people are Neanderthals, the white walkers are homo sapiens
Like how exactly do we know that the Three Eyed Raven is a Good Guy and the White Walkers are bad guys? The White Walkers are definitely brutal in their methods but (beyond killing the three eyed Raven and later Bran) it's sort of unclear what their aims are!

Legitimately discriminatory (not legally technically) against people without good/fast internet access
WHY ISN'T 1.0 GOOD ENOUGH

This is essentially just climate change denial (or climate nihilism)
If there’s no shale gas then there’s no shale gas, but I still think environmentalism is basically bad and politicians should focus more on material prosperity.

Today is the 55th anniversary of the day "The office door shut behind [Vivianna and Tommy's] fashionably dressed secretary...and both [Vivianna and Tommy] exhaled."
(I think i used the square brackets correctly lol)
Not to belabor the point but my book VIVIANA VALENTINE GOES UP THE RIVER– which takes place *at Thanksgiving*! making it very timely!– was heralded by @readbookpage.bsky.social as "KNIVES OUT meets Agatha Christie" so you, again, should probably buy it. www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/717309...

THE RUNNING MAN is out and I had to do a mini-video review. I'm so bummed at how disappointing this is. You can read my full review via TheFilmMaven.com or at the link in bio.

Are you excited for The Running Man? Let me know what you think in the comments.

Spurs on their way (VERY early call) to being the 3rd North American team to pass Bob Ryan's dynasty test!
“Sometimes it’s about players and not plays.”

For years the Spurs have taken losses when another team's star takes over the fourth quarter.

Now they have their own. Two actually.

On Victor Wembanyama, De'Aaron Fox and how the Spurs have come to own the fourth.

Every single signer who fought in the American Revolution is a criminal (they committed treason against their country) and the slaveholders were all tyrants
The writers of the Constitition never intended for a criminal tyrant to be president.

Sartre: Hell is other people
Mysk: Hold my K
I'm an atheist and I approve this message

Hell is real, but it's of our own making
there's a moment in PARADISE LOST where Satan arrives in Eden and realizes Hell isn't a place; it's a thing he carries within him and it'll follow him wherever he goes. and i think about that when i see these awful rich men whose monstrous wealth has enriched them not at all

The amount of onscreen chemistry that Martin Sheen and Sam Waterstone have in Grace and Frankie somehow despite being entirely unconvincing as an actual couple ❤️
You can absolutely nominate a couple for Best Flirts because there are some people Cary Grant starred across from who somehow managed to stifle his flirt and I can only fathom how frustrating that was for him, the King of All Flirts
May I nominate a couple? Irene Dunne and Cary Grant in Love Affair and My Favorite Wife.

So this feels A LOT like political cover for moderate Senators who AREN'T retiring, right?
let’s be clear here

1. its not all Senate Dems

2. The most fucked thing is a lot of them doing this are actually retiring

Not only did he sexually assualt a bunch of women, he:
- Led an atrocious COVID response that included indirectly killing thousands of seniors (and then covering it up)
- Closed the nuclear power plant that powered 25% of NYC's electricity (replaced it with dirtier natural gas)
Thread: Look I know it's easier cognitively to just have good guys and villains, but a lot of you folks are just not dealing in facts. Andrew Cuomo was a centrist, sure, and he fought a lot with Democrats. But he also pushed some of the most progressive state policies of his era. A partial list. 1/

Closing a nuclear power plant is very decidedly NOT good for the environment writ large (not to mention the plant supplied a quarter of NYC's electricty)
Cuomo championed and won another prize environmentalist wish-list items including closure of the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant in the Hudson Valley and blocking gas pipelines. 6/
