Wait the GA speaker can call a special session?
NYT: “In a newly obtained recording of a phone call from late 2020, President Trump can be heard pressing the speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives to hold a special legislative session to overturn Mr. Trump’s election loss.”

Where we live the schools in walkable neighborhoods were built at a time that school-age families could afford to live there, now they mostly can't. So the kids get transported to those schools from further away, where families can afford housing (or the schools get closed as under-enrolled)
This is obviously a, ah, provocative take on the subject, but it indeed an enormous societal problem that children have stopped walking or biking to school. There are plenty of individually rational reasons parents might drive their kids to school, but, in a wider context, no good reasons.

YES it is the only thing there is
whole lotta people frame their "policy ideas" in the language of "if I was empowered with authoritarian control and resistance was effectively crushed". they miss the entire bit about implementation and incentives for reaction or subterfuge or community buy-in. once you see it, it's everywhere.

This fetid landmark, this historical stain on humanity is primarily due to the stunningly reckless obliteration of America's foreign assistance agency earlier this year.

I just feel we need to keep saying, over and over, that the problem with DOGE was not its failure to cut spending. the problem with DOGE is that it CUT GLOBAL AID LEADING TO THE DEATHS OF 600K PEOPLE AND COUNTING. 1
DOGE is one of the greatest failures of the Trump administration. The next Democratic administration should pick up that issue and actually work to cut government waste, fraud, and abuse. I’d suggest starting by taking a look at Elon Musk’s government contracts.

Vote Yes on Q because we already elected a council and mayor to pass a city budget, if we don’t like it we can vote them out, that’s what local control means, fuck the state of Texas for making the city have to jump through more electoral hoops to run the damn city

Really worried Austin ISD is next
This tragic but excellent article needs to be read by everyone throughout the country. The Republicans want to kill public ed. They are using state takeovers and charter school owning charlatans like Mike Miles (and his abusive NES) to do it. See at what they are stealing from our (soon your) kids!🧵
