Erin has a large account and is making a direct statement on what elected officials/people should/n’t be saying right now using AOC as an example. It’s the kind of message that gets picked up, and amplified, and turned into a narrative that takes root online. I think that needed to be said.
And I think the key point here is that Erin is hurt.
She’s saying it hurts to see things get minimised and ignored again.
I think maybe there’s perhaps a well intentioned sentiment behind explaining. Like I’m pretty sure I just did it.
But perhaps this just isn’t the time or place for that.

Bluesky needs two buttons at the top that says ‘yes, I want to read about the world on fire today’ and ‘no it’s a cute cats day’, so you can switch between algorithms. If I spend a day talking about politics odds are good I want nothing but cats the next day, but now my algorithm is ruined 😢

The people who believe TikTok is being banned because it affects what’s happening in Palestine are the same people who definitely believe their “daily clicks to free Palestine” on twitter were making a difference.
Tik Tok is not a moral or ethical company, but it is 100% being banned because of pro Palestine content and for not censoring leftist content. It's not about national security threats, it's about ideas

I’m finding it fascinating that 1) multiple “liberal” people are trying to link the shut down of tiktok to Palestine, and 2) the second they get challenged (politely, I might add) on that super inaccurate and gross attempt at a connection they block. Feels very planted.
