Went to a screening a couple months ago. As a Denver Post alum, and die-hard fan of local news, it hits really hard. A must-watch if you want to understand what's happening to newspapers across the country and why local news matters so much.
The documentary "Stripped for Parts: American Journalism on the Brink," about how Hedge fund Alden Global Capital is gobbling up newspapers across America and gutting them, is available to watch on PBS.

1.5 episodes into the Denver season of Love Is Blind, and all I'm gonna say is there's a lot of Douglas County energy so far.

This was Charlie Blackmon's walk up song forever, so a big piece of Denver sports lore. Glad they're playing it at Mile High!
They played it in the stadium during the Broncos game so I’m workshopping a take:

“Your Love” by The Outfield is one of the greatest white people songs ever

Denver only averages two days/year with 1"+ of rain. If you're a rain-lover today is your day.

Fun fact: Denver has a better chance of getting 4"+ of snow in a day than 1"+ of rain.

I will not be gaslit into thinking the Chiefs offense is Back because of Tyquan Thornton.

Russell Wilson first ever QB to throw the ball away on first, third, and fourth down on the same set of downs

The ICE recruitment ad that’s running non stop during NFL games is really disgusting. I’d say the networks should be ashamed of themselves but we know they have no shame.

Huge stadium news in Denver. From the DP's report:
-Team + city say "no new taxes"
-Initial plan is for stadium with retractable roof and natural grass surface.
-Burnham Yard is the referred site, not finalized yet.
NEW: Burnham Yard is the Denver Broncos' preferred site for a new stadium, the club announced today while outlining an unprecedented, privately financed vision for a stadium and adjoining mixed-use entertainment district // Story by @parkerjgabriel.bsky.social

I feel personally attacked by all the ways Matt Prater, who was essentially a rookie my first year covering the Broncos, has been called geriatric 😭
41 year old kicker Matt Prater boarded a red eye flight on Wednesday.

89 hours, and a nationally televised walk-off winner vs. the Ravens later, he became the stuff of legend.

A look inside his whirlwind half-a-week to becoming a Bills folk hero: www.nytimes.com/athletic/660...
Matt Prater’s whirlwind week ahead of Bills game winner: ‘I was not expecting this’
Roughly 89 hours after landing in Buffalo, Prater hit a walk-off field goal to beat the Ravens in the Bills' season opener.

Well, damn, @alansiegella.bsky.social has me all in my memories of the mid-aughts on the sports staff of the Palm Beach Post. This one's for the elder millennial + Gen X ex-newspaper hacks:

The Local Newspaper Is Dead. That’s Why We Have ‘The Paper.’
Going from a paper company to a newspaper company, the ‘Office’ spinoff zeroes in on another dying industry. For anyone who lived in those trenches, the local journalism fantasy will be bittersweet.

Got a new story in The Ringer today.

You have encountered Steelers exceptionalism a million times. It's the belief that the Pittsburgh NFL team is football's one indispensable franchise and somehow different from the other 31.

It's also about to come crashing down www.theringer.com/2025/09/02/n...
The Last Gasp of Steelers Exceptionalism
Pittsburgh has long acted like it’s better than its NFL peers. As the Aaron Rodgers era begins, will Mike Tomlin’s team be anything more than average?
