It is totally fine for people who have been harmed to hear an apology and refuse to accept it. To acknowledge it and never trust the person saying it. To expect more than words. Get comfortable with the uncomfortable because the real world does not function like a sitcom.

I will never understand the rush to forgive white supremacist fanboys for the harm they enabled as soon as they decide it isn't fun to be hateful anymore. Sure there are some who have actively worked to make amends, but tons more will pay lip service and then start the cycle all over again

This is why we had Jim Crow instead of truth and reconciliation after slavery ended. People are so quick to absolve anyone who pays lip service to changing their mind about human rights violations instead of letting them live with the social consequences of their words
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

Because they are invested in the armed management of inequality, which policing was designed to do, and which continues to benefit them materially.
Question for the crowd:

Why do you think moderates, liberals, and other folks are scared or have an aversion to the word “abolish”?

The reality is that people haven’t agreed upon what’s next. So you say abolish and then a lot of the same people calling for abolition are annoyed when the question is posed to them AND the conversations breakdown from there.

Yet only one side is looked at as being unwilling to move forward.

Because once it's clear abolishing institutions is on the table then the oppression they actually like is at risk

They/we have been led to believe abolish = absence. I think we’ve been conditioned to think that the absence of a control means there will be complete chaos. I don’t think that’s true.

I do think we struggle to imagine what an alternative (that is not above accountability) looks like.

Anyway this is the shit that they call "unskilled labor" but it is actually really fucking hard to be able to anticipate needs and meet them before they come up.

I think is probably why so many in ops and project management are women. We train for it from birth.

Possibly.
is the cure for male loneliness showing up early and setting up chairs?
A lot of the Male Loneliness Epidemic can be traced back to the fact that most cis dudes don’t participate in communal logistics.

Having been raised amongst the straight men, I can attest that the Lonely Guys put an enormous amount of time, energy and effort into not being in community with anyone, and actively avoiding the possible danger of being of service to others. It’s like Neo dodging bullets in The Matrix.

I think @sarahjeong.bsky.social said it's because they devalue women's labor and a LOT of this Scary Logistics stuff comes from people who don't understand that basically all of the civic life they enjoy is created with the help of free labor, largely by women.
Tho I will say, in his defense, he's not the first person to be confused by how quickly the romance authors & readers can whip up finely tuned logistics out of nothing. 😂
