Rode around for an hour and a half clearing storm drains this morning. This was the final boss- I had to use street view to find the drain! Nothing more satisfying than the sucking sound when it opens up.

I have written a lot about the perils of poorly maintained (and leaf-filled) bike lanes. That didn’t stop me from wiping out in one just now, falling on my face and scraping up my knee pretty badly. This is a truly hazardous situation, @pbotinfo.bsky.social. When are you going to do something?

IMO everyone should be extremely mad about ICE. It's really fucking weird to spend your time organizing your anger at the one immigrant on city council who is also the person who has spent the most time trying to figure out what city powers can be leveraged to add costs to doing business with ICE.

Hey @councilordanryan.bsky.social. I am one of your consituttents. Vote to end algorithmic rent price-fixing. The ordinance is good for Portland and is not communism. @comiccavepdx.bsky.social
Yeah someone tell Dan Ryan rent-control type stuff might be really good for Portland and is not communism. I swear, so much fear mongering and grandstanding.
"The proposed ‘price-fixing' ban on housing providers comes straight out of the national socialist playbook."

WHAT?! What is wrong with this man!?

The judge’s ruling to stop the Trump administration from unlawfully sending in the National Guard to Portland confirms what we all know be true: deploying troops to Oregon is a blatant abuse of power and a misuse of our military.

The "defensive walking" NPR story really bugs me. Their main source runs a nonprofit that is nearly a wholly-owned subsidiary of Big Auto and they made no mention of that or the role of cars in making roads unsafe.

more raised crosswalks
Raised crosswalks solve two problems with one intervention: 1) accessibility for people on sidewalks without curb ramps and 2) traffic calming, resulting in fewer injuries and deaths

I'm incredibly tired of being lectured about how high earning Portlanders are leaving. They aren't, but we can debate that later.

More importantly, the truth is our top earners are a tiny sliver of this city. Programs like Preschool for All only ask 7% of us to pay more — and they can afford it.

didn’t catch the full context of the greenway discussion but portland greenways are quite successful at inducing bike trips when they look like SE clinton (direct, lots of diverters) and less when they look like this. need more consistent enforcements of the standards we have!

I briefly toured the NW 20th and Everett area yesterday, & I am confused as to the justification for removing these diverters.

If anything, the SUV I saw drive around the planter & use the bike lane as a car lane makes me think the whole road could be closed to cars, not just one direction.

Neighbors and local advocacy groups plan to rally all day Thursday and Friday to keep diverters from being removed.

Rally Thursday afternoon, Breakfast Friday. If you plan to stay a while, maybe bring a chair.

Connor Lennon says they will stand in protection of the diverter at NW 20th / Everett all day today and tomorrow. “If they want to remove these they will have to physically remove me.”

A rally is planned for today (8/7) at 4pm at this location.
