For example if our modern lifestyle is creating much smaller households, that is an impact that makes small reforms like bailing water with a bucket.

To be clear, we should still do them, because there's no world with low housing costs without them. Just that I don't think it can be enough.

Please keep an eye out for a big Tern pannier, stem can, kids back pack, and other junk, in trashcan near 34th and Hawthorne. It'll be expensive to replace everything stolen but I have my baby back at least.

I didn't have it locked- I left it for about 60 seconds right outside the door, school had just let out, lots of people were nearby (though not directly around it), normally not a condition under which I worry about very short eyes-off my bike.

My luck at finding this was certainly helped by having a non-functional front brake (air in the line) and low battery. The thief wasn't taking much of a joy ride!

Notably, I think we have a bona fide bike thief here, one stupid enough to park a stolen bike right next to a bank and multiple surveillance cameras.

Right after I left but before my friends did, the culprit showed up, looked very confused, then agitated, then realized what happened and took off back across Hawthorne. RJ got a picture

Things were uneventful for a while. The police showed up and used their giant bolt cutters, I gave my info to a Tesla parked nearby, talked to some friends, and headed home. But then a twist!
