I’ve managed to not hit my head getting in or out of our RV even one time today, principally because I have made up a song called “don’t hit your head” to remind me.

The Quest waiting room has a cool futuristic check in system but also has nonstop ads about the various tests they offer and why you need them and I feel like this is the future every part of society is heading for.

I’ve seen all your turkey takes and all I have to say is that my husband’s step dad made prime rib and it was SO GOOD. Keep your turkeys to yourself, we are feasting like kings out here.

Shout out to all the POTS folks making food today - don’t forget to sit down!

The Broadway soundtrack of Hadestown is Thanksgiving music I don’t make the rules.

Thinking about the homeless woman on the bus today who was just riding the bus back and forth, carrying all her belongings with her, because she had no where to go until the shelter opened back up for dinner. Overnight only shelters don’t stabilize people.

“It’s about whether people have a safe place to go at night, whether we’re sending the most appropriate responders and how fast our response times are, and whether people of all incomes feel safe in their neighborhoods and believe that our city and our public spaces work for them.”

THE PEOPLE MAKING EVERYONES LIVES WORSE ARE NOT BAD BECAUSE THEYRE OLD OR MENTALLY ILL OR FEEBLE OR ON DRUGS. THEY ARE BAD BECAUSE THEY ARE HATEFUL AND CRUEL LITTLE BULLIES.
I am a little tired of being yelled at for this but apparently not tired about: heroin addiction is not RFK’s problem. He’s a sociopath. Most addicts aren’t. Honestly, walk into an NA meeting, grab the first person with a few years to be head of HHS and they’d probably do a better job than Bobby.
This is what happens when you put a privileged, 14 year heroin addict in charge of health. Duh

I just read an entire book in 4 days who even am I? (And there’s a sequel…)

Less than a month between election season and scam season. I beg everyone with a NJ-based phone number to leave me alooooooooone.

Ok Portland - I know how you all are about driving the day before Thanksgiving. I’m about to ride my bike to the gym and I need you to CHILL!

I shouldn’t even amplify this (one of the most wrong takes I’ve ever seen) but I’ve been asked by SO MANY communities why they don’t have a grocery store (even expensive neighborhoods in some cities and towns!) and the answer is never “you don’t want it enough.”
The market does provide it. The reason private stores aren't selling fresh produce nearby is that not enough ppl want it (or rather, want it badly enough to pay what it actually costs to produce and deliver)--even when the federal govt is helping cover the bill via EBT.

Poor ppl have agency, too!
People need food. Market won’t provide it. Government should. It’s literally the whole point.

I so badly want to tell you not to read this whole thing because AAAAAAAAH (and also WHY) but if you too can’t look away from the trivial and terrible, this is for you.

I can’t eat dairy or eggs anymore but the closer we get to Thanksgiving the more I wish I could eat a huge slice of my grandma’s pumpkin chiffon pie. If anybody wants the recipe hit me up - so much better than traditional pumpkin pie (which is also good).

I have an unhealthy relationship with the NYTimes comment section because it is full of guys who are positive they’ve discovered the key to warding off everything due to their healthy lifestyles. “My headaches went away when I stopped drinking so that’s obviously the cure for migraines!”

I have had to tell desert towns in Oregon and Washington “‘maybe a data center isn’t a great idea here” more times than you might imagine. I’m glad I’m not the only one nervously watching what’s been happening.
How Oregon’s Data Center Boom Is Supercharging a Water Crisis

Amazon has come to the state’s eastern farmland, worsening a water pollution problem that’s been linked to cancer and miscarriages.

Before I turn right I look behind/next to me for cyclists and look at the crosswalk for pedestrians. It makes me so nervous when I’m out in a car that so many people don’t take 1-2 seconds to do this before turning.
This "driving concern" is actually a very rarely acknowledged major pedestrian safety concern. Drivers whipping around from behind you as you start crossing turning right on green is lethal

Is it illegal to stop before turning right at a green light?
When you’re turning right at a green light, it’s right to slow down or even stop to make sure it’s safe, expert says

I’m the slowest reader except apparently of fantasy books? I’m like 175 pages into a 320 page book I started reading yesterday.
Oh man I started another fantasy book today and while my instinct is always to cringe at the first couple of chapters that set up the world, I am also immediately hooked. My brain really wants me to think I’m cooler than this but I am absolutely not.

Turkey takes are tired - I want to know what your family’s Thanksgiving pasta course is/was and how your grandpa reacted the year your mom made butternut squash ravioli (or the year your family decided to *gasp* skip the pasta course).

Watching newsies for the first time in forever and crying because I love it so much and ALSO - solidarity means not leaving your disabled comrades behind when you’re running from the cops.

I didn’t see Wicked the movie but I’ve seen the Broadway play multiple times and I read the book, and I’m just now finding out they split it into two movies. Why?? Like I could see adapting the book into a series but the PLAY?? It’s not even that long!

Yesterday on my way to the gym I hit 500 miles on my ebike. Before I got it, I basically never biked, so almost all of those trips would have been by car. It was ~40 degrees out and I was on my way to swim when I hit 500 miles. Absolutely life changing.

Can’t believe a couple years ago I got my husband a sun lamp for the long dark and somehow managed to never ask him if he’d tried taking vitamin d until today.

The song from Mario 2 is the perfect song to sing to yourself while biking. I can’t be the only person who’s realized this.
