Do not fail to notice that at the end she says she would've called in a favor with Trump if Kat had been nicer to her, because they all like that Trump's justice system is just a patronage system and the only thing any of them care about is people groveling for their approval.
Yesterday, a Republican tried to give me holy water and Trump perfume because I’m “demonic.”

Extremely normal stuff coming from an extremely normal party.

Look, a couple defectors flip the House. I get it. But I don't understand pissing off your own base to say this. And just as a continuing conversation - a tent can be large, but it has posts and walls - boundaires. It's not an n-th dimensional hyperspace. What do Dems BELIEVE IN?
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

My favorite coworker is a very sweet older hospital lab tech who has an encyclopedic knowledge of the site policy, is extremely literal, can't stand having all the fluorescent bulbs on, and can hear a machine beeping seemingly through walls.
one of the surgeons on the show just said that he's been having the exact same lunch for eight years and i'm glad autistic people are in medicine lolol
Started watching the show CRITICAL on Netflix - it's a docuseries on trauma hospitals in London and telling the stories of everything doctors, paramedics, and nurses do to help people facing life changing injuries. It tells the stories with great care to the patients, too.

They obviously ARE pricing out people who can't pay $15 for a Big Mac meal, but they are also losing business from people who have the $15 but know they can get something better than McDonald's for $15. If you charge fast casual prices, you better have fast casual quality.

"Al Capone was convicted of tax evasion. He wasn't a murderer. You can't say that. He didn't get convicted of murder." That's how Dershowitz sounds lol.
So this is really what MAGA is going with

Every time a conservative misinterprets a work with a morally compromised protagonist, Marty Scorsese and Vince Gilligan should get an alert, and send them a formal announcement saying they've each donated $500 to an up-and-coming queer author in the conservative's name.
This is also an insult to Nabakov who actually knew pedophilia was wrong

You can think the way problems of inclusion are being handled are annoying, but a lot of those complaints are veiled appeals to return to exclusion. The resolution is not to go back to EXclusion, it is finding less annoying ways to do the INclusion.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Not to get too picky about this, but my recollection is that a nothingburger is a story with no actual substance (hence the name), not a story the public doesn't care about.

This is monumentally stupid.
“The prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship on papers, and advising a foreign graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding.”

Thanksgiving is coming and I'm remembering the time someone on this site said, "I need a gravy separator, help me pick one, please" and a bunch of posters descended to say that it is a useless, wasteful tool, because you should just be putting all the fat in your sauce.

It is amazing to watch Republicans insist the free market can fix healthcare when it is not a free market. You cannot shop for healthcare, and you cannot decide you're not in the market if you don't like prices right now.
I was at an event yesterday where Rand Paul spoke via video and talked about how great it was to send ACA money "directly to the people" so that they could work collectively to get better deals on health care.

If you didn't know about We Are Lady Parts, it's ok, it's on Peacock. But now that you know about it, it's up to you to fix it, because that show rules.

Yeah, Roger. It IS weird that the ACA is this elaborate, expensive, inefficient system that requires a ton of finagling to keep afloat, because it involves maintaining the private insurance market as much as possible. Why IS that, I wonder?

Huh well it turns out I heard from a few federal workers about this and well

"We civil servants organized to help our colleagues face the hardship of the shutdown, we put up with the pain and our only request was to not be betrayed like this. Trade our pain, make it count."

15 years ago, Google Music let you back up your whole library, stream it anywhere and DOWNLOAD your library anywhere for free. When they switched to YouTube Music they got rid of that. Now I can get online and see them offer to SELL me all the music on the playlists I made in college.
Interesting convo with a friend who owns a hip NYC record shop about a sudden renewed interest in CDs, which were a negligible part of his business till recently.

This makes me wonder: if the roles were reversed, would Chuck Schumer have endured as much as a tummy rumble for any of us? This writer has shown courage and resolve, and they were betrayed by the Senate Minority Leader. It's revolting.
I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

I still have a lot of religion in me, so I hang on to the belief that his soul does and will continue to suffer for his sins, but for my atheist friends - you can believe in hell! Who is gonna get mad at you? The god who doesn't exist?! The pedant in the back of your mind?! Kill them both!
it is necessary to invent Hell so that Elon Musk can be sent there

The question "Why does this say male/female?" means that any trans person now has to explain their entire mental health and medical history to domestic or foreign government officials.

This is de facto differential treatment that no other citizen has to face.

This was a pretty ubiquitous bumper sticker around my church growing up, and seeing it as an adult, I gotta say... It does not paint God in a very positive light if your explicit argument is that he knocked up a 14 year old girl and gave her absolutely no choice in the matter.

There is going to be a lot of whining about the Sandwich Guy by people who also think it was great that Kyle Rittenhouse killed two people and had a court say he didn't commit a crime. They should be mocked.
