When this happened to Elian Gonzalez, it was a national scandal. Now, it's everyday news.

I never want to let myself off the hook to be as generous as possible, but I also think guilt about not doing more is a trap. We tend to turn away from things and people and events which make us feel guilty.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

ABSOLUTELY.
you know that thing where you intend to answer one email and then 45 minutes later you realize you're meticulously organizing photos of various family cats?

We found out that one of my percussion students had his dad taken by ICE two weeks ago and is being held in Georgia. I'm trying to pool together resources to help get the family some groceries and help with bills. Just need to figure out the best way to do that.

The public made noise for Liam Ramos and it got him released from Dilley.

Now we must make noise for 7 year old Diana Crespo.

Her parents were taking her for emergency medical care when ICE grabbed them, and she’s rotting in the camp sick and exposed to measles.

Get them out!

Love and support you always, Cincinnati Enquirer (support local media), but esp today

This is a Midwest daily paper. About as middle of the road as you can get

& they understand that this is an objective, straight news headline, in the context of a planned Trump/GOP onslaught in Springfield, etc

I think it's best for everyone to understand that the unified class project of billionaires right now is to do to white collar workers what globalization and neoliberalism did to blue collar workers.

Okay. I am feeling slow and snuffly, but less than this morning.

I have Session 2 of an 8-session dance class tonight. I've taken the class before. I missed Session 1 because I thought I had stomach flu & didn't want to infect people.

Now, slow, tired, a bit in need of Kleenex: don't want to go.

Think I've got a head cold. At the very least, I have a head full of ... something.

Nose is running. Face bones hurt. Eyelids are swollen (that last may be a coincidence: i have chronic dry eye.)

is there anything you can do about it if you're just sneezing your head off and your nose is sore inside?

I have already taken generic Zyrtec and a squirt of generic Flonase.

Even for someone who enjoys laundry as almost a hobby, today's discovery of yet more unwanted clothes, these discolored and requiring special dye-catching additives in the faint hope of returning them to their original color --

-- well, it's a lot. And it's not something that will happen today.
