ICE was once again a presence in Evanston and Rogers Park this AM, with masked men taking multiple members of our community off the street. Here are a few things you can do right now to stay safe and help protect your neighbors

Are the Colts warming up by playing Red Rover or something

Aaron Glenn! (Who, as you’d guess, specializes in defense. So he just needs to fire his OC and start over is all.)

Most two-out, two-strike home runs in a postseason, pitch-tracking era (s. 2008):

2020 Dodgers - 7
2024 Yankees - 6
2020 Rays, 2009 Phillies, 2017 Astros and Yankees, 2021 Braves, 2025 Brewers* - 4

*have only played 5 games

I'll make this an article at some point soon, but I have to gush a minute:

The #Brewers had 10 two-out, two-strike hits (four of them homers) in the Division Series. It's hard to convey more succinctly how incredible that offense is.

In the three games the Brewers won, 12 of their 19 runs scored on hits with two strikes and two outs. Twelve. Of. Nineteen.

Pope Leo quotes Hannah Arendt:

“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction and the distinction between true and false no longer exist."

Pope Leo calls for news agencies to stand as bulwark against "post-truths," lies and manipulation
Pope Leo XIV has encouraged international news agencies to stand firm as a bulwark against the "ancient art of lying" and manipulation.

A 32-year-old man spent a substantial amount of time talking to a computer to get to the chat-up line “Hey Sarah, it was lovely to meet you,” and I think we’re supposed to view him as a representative sample of the population. Which, if so, just bring me the damn meteor.

Cool storyline to watch - #Brewers Sal Frelick (1st round, 2021) and #Dodgers RHP Emmet Sheehan (6th round, 2021) were three-year teammates at Boston College. Pretty good chance they face each other at least once in the NLCS.

I think this series is closer than PECOTA projects, but perhaps more tilted than Matt thinks. Not surprising the model prefers the team with the better DRC+ and DRA-. Of course there's more to the game(s) than that.

I had the NLCS preview for @baseballprospectus.com, which was a delight. I haven't been this pumped for an NLCS since 2009, when it felt like Phillies and Dodgers had been on a collision course all summer. PECOTA is begging for order; it can keep begging. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

Congratulations, Pat Murphy, PECOTA hasn't changed its mind.

Jack KILLED his postgame piece from The Ueck. Loved it so much.

Going into an NLDS matchup against their division rivals, the Brewers needed the right pitchers to hold serve and to hit enough home runs when it mattered most to move on. Both of those things happened in Game 5, sending them to their first NLCS since 2018. #brewers #milwaukee #thisismycrew

I don’t know! I haven’t seen the show in 10 years! I suspect, though, that (like everything else on ESPN) it’s basically just a football show now. So, whatever.

I would have *guessed* it was, but I did not *know* the SC Top 10 was even still a thing. What’s SportsCenter like these days? Does it feel like they even try or is it aware that it’s a dead show walking?

This is what the biopic is about actually. They wanted to censor this footage. And honestly, maybe just let them have that one.

Will we see a Brewers-Mariners World Series? The reason the Mariners exist is because of the Brewers — who began life in Seattle as the Pilots and were sold to a Milwaukee ownership group just weeks before the 1970 season began: sabr.org/journal/arti...
