(They also netted over $4.1 million of last year’s total. They’re pulling about 5x their share over the last two years, and they might well grab a similarly lopsided share of next year’s money too.)

They prefer building around their defense, and they can leverage that best by focusing on other aspects of pitching than missing bats. Also: stuff is expensive.
