Old picture. I don't know who did it. I've found it from Twitter in the beginning of 2022. Somebody replied to Zaynep Tufekci with this picture and then either deactivated the account or got suspended.

(To be clear, I’m not saying I think the government created or manufactured HIV or SARS2. But at first HIV wasn’t treated with any urgency because it was incorrectly believed to affect only gay men. Re: COVID, it’s airborne, etc. & would take considerable $$ to properly manage.)

I got a big lesson in government malfeasance as a young man trying to stay alive during the original HIV/AIDS epidemic. I can’t say I’d recommend that, but at least it helped me see the threat of COVID more clearly. But I never would’ve thought they’d do the same or similar to the entire population.

*People can’t acknowledge the threat of COVID bcs of denial, propaganda, conformist groupthink, institutional failure, normalcy bias, lack of knowledge abt long term effects of some viruses, possible frontal lobe damage from infections that interferes with risk assessment and decision making, etc.

The reasons people are generally unable to acknowledge that COVID is dangerous are complex*. I think another reason may be that many people think the government couldn’t possibly be that malevolent or reckless. I wonder if for some the last few difficult weeks are testing that assumption.

The systemic corruption & the inability to tackle it permeating every aspect of society, the injustice of it all, the normalization of inequality & exploitation, the denial of the obvious, the intrinsic horror of subjugation, the oligarchy, the war on humans, the fallacies, the prison system...
If US laws, institutions, and processes were worth a damn, none of this would be happening in the first place. What we're seeing is the result of massive systemic failures--to be generous to those who don't believe the US was already a fascist state--that have built up for more than half a century.

One of the several insidious things about COVID is that it can do considerable “under the hood” damage that might not be evident for years. I say this not to frighten and paralyze you, but to remind or encourage you to wear a mask and try to have as few infections as possible.
If they established protocols (with biomarkers) for at least these 3 factors: immunity depletion, vascular damage, and mitochondrial dysfunction, they would shudder in terror for the amount of people suffering Long Covid.

Mask up cuz measles erases immune memory. The virus destroys 11% to 73% of antibody memory cells, leaving individuals vulnerable to other pathogens for months or up to two years.

How about you don’t assume you’ll experience the lower band of that potential outcome?

Sometimes when the media or our institutions say “Emerging evidence…” they’re referring to information or data that actually “emerged” years ago, but that is just now being disclosed or reported on in a more “official” capacity. #COVID

"Emerging evidence" of a clear, self-evident truth that has been observable for years.
