It's no coincidence. I find that it is exactly people who are used to being marginalised or somehow 'othered' that are best equipped to put up with the social consequences of sticking to what they know to be true over the demands of the people around them.

Every year, always the same.

Yeah. But they won’t.

4. This utterly mistaken but seemingly widespread belief that Covid-19 has somehow gone away is precisely the inevitable result of declaring the pandemic to be over and tacitly allowing people to take that declaration to mean that SARS-CoV-2 has magically disappeared.

It is profoundly disturbing that at least 27 million people (with the true number likely being much higher) have perished from Covid-19 since 2020, and yet, most members of the human community do not appear to care at all.

Interesting findings. But the writer both-sides it at the end, where they cite the “mental health hit” of isolation and “learning loss” from school closures.

I reckon that kids would have taken a bigger mental health hit from seeing friends and family dropping dead around them in 2020-22.

A few weeks ago there was a #Covid19 outbreak on my Mom’s memory care wing. The whole section was quarantined. Family could still visit but before entering a resident’s room, they were req’d to put on full gowns & gloves. They were even told to remove their shoes. But masks were optional.😡

Equivalent? None. All viruses carry risk, but nothing works as fast and extends as far as SARS-CoV-2 except some other BSL-3 viruses and higher, BUT we don’t just let them rip through society. We contain them.

A gentle reminder: Collapse acceptance can feel like a marathon at times but therein lies its penitential aspect and potential.

It’s one of my favourites along with “stay clear of sick people”. 😂

Sounds like: "We minimized covid before. People could get very sick before, and people can be very sick now. So things are as expected. They may be worse for you this time, because we keep telling you not to worry about it, but that's just your bad luck. So again, this fits our expectations" 😡😡

It’s absolutely sickening!

As always, the very last line:

“…and if you’re really concerned and you’re in a crowded indoor space, it’s still OK to wear an N95 mask.”

Always ask. I have achieved 100% compliance each time I’ve requested masking, but I do have to ask as it is not automatic.

"Most people will get one or two respiratory infections every year. In some ways, it's a good thing when you are a child or healthy adult.
"By getting exposed you are building up your immunity through natural infection…”

And we wonder why the average citizen is so clueless. 🤦‍♀️
