Hi! I’m a tall queer guy who writes (mostly) shorter queer things, though novels keep happening somehow. Mostly I tell tales that exist somewhere in the Venn of spec-fic, romance, and YA, but always queer.
I’m a huge fan of chosen families and insistent queer history.

I keep thinking of @eliotedits.bsky.social's thoughts about the way some romance readers don’t like the little quiet at home chore/mundanity moments and how that might land differently for queer readers/queer characters.
It’s reminding me of when some evangelist types came to my door.

'Feed the hungry' is one of the basic, fundamental, direct-order-from-Jesus, tenets of being a Christian, and it's not 'feed the hungry when it's politically expedient to do so or advances your wider agenda'.

Donald Trump has asked his employees on the Supreme Court to overrule lower court orders demanding that he fulfill his duties to feed Americans who are due SNAP benefits
AND
He's demanding that states which just rushed to fill the vacuum created by his cruelty "undo" that work.

NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...

For reasons, I’ve added "figure out which stories are out of print" as 'to do' this week. I can’t decide if this is going to feel liberating or depressing, but I’ve decided to stack the odds by eating gummy bears while I do it.

Last re-skeet: "In Memoriam" was written for a collection of four novellas bound up from Wilde City Press called "On the Run," and it was about chases/being chased/escape/get aways.
I was worried it’d be too strange a take on the theme, but the four stories were all super different.

Day 8 of #NovellaNovember was a re-listen of @nathanburgoine.bsky.social 's In Memoriam, read by @jwden.bsky.social.
This will not be the last 'Nathan Burgoine novella I talk about this month. He's another of my "auto-buy" authors and very much the reason I read romance now.

Finally watching Fantastic 4 First Steps (really enjoying it, just paused it to make tea) and I really hope one of the lessons from this movie the MCU takes forward (especially when/if we get to the X-Men) is "you don’t have to do an origin story."

Last re-skeet: even back when I was living on my own, the same damn story. If I was going to buy fresh vegetables, I could spend $X for one vegetable, or the same $X for a bag of the same vegetables (this drove me nuts—still the same today, one potato or bag of potatoes? Price is often damn close.)

Thinking about the social stigma against eating fast food in a country where poor people are being starved by the govt, the cost of groceries and fresh vegetables are astronomical, and a cheeseburger at McDonald’s costs $3.50.
“Clean” and “healthy” eating rhetoric is racist, ableist, and classist.

There is something really wrong with people who need workers to be not just competent, but slavishly fake-happy. "Slavishly" used on purpose, bc that's where this grotesquerie comes from.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.
They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.
If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."
🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
