I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It’s also about using state power to build a private police force for the fascists—and spreading fear and destroying solidarity. Being brave and building solidarity is a big part of how we fight back.

One of the things I find so dismaying about the AI-ification of engagement with writing is that it’s not just anti-creativity, it’s anti-aesthetic. It’s violence against the power of language and words, against their capacity for every kind of beauty
I am just so fucking depressed at the degree to which the definition and function of reading as “the basic conveying of information via the written word” seems to be the only one many if not most people are willing to entertain at all
