Unless you are taking us straight to Utopia you are engaging in incrementalism. Abolishing ICE today doesn't fix USAID, therefore it is not good enough!

As always, this attitude is a form of Western exceptionalism. Thinking that it's impossible that Persians might not want to live in a repressive theocracy all of their own accord, and need the West or "the Jews" to trick them into it, is deeply insulting.

I'm genuinely afraid that the US having actually succeeded in knabbing Maduro overnight is going to make too many of Trump's supporters excuse this whole thing. It's far too easy to wake up today to a blurb that we did a "military thing" and captured a dictator and shrug off how insane that is.

For the Iraq War, oil made sense as a cynical imperialist motivation. In 2003, the US imported ≈11k barrels/day.
These days, the US *exports* ≈3k barrels/day. We have a surplus of oil.
