It's insane to me. How do they think this even plays in the general?? Would Maine voters on the fence feel comfortable telling people they voted for the guy with a totenkopf? Over Collins who puts on a sweet old grandma vibe? Not saying that would be right, but I'm betting that won't be uncommon!
Crichton seems to use him to convey philosophy across both books, as is Malcolm's role in the movies, but here he's so much more insufferable about it. Not to mention his "theories" on topics of biology would be tantamount to pseudoscience in the real world.
So I'm listening to The Lost World audiobook by Michael Crichton after I recently finished the original Jurassic Park. And oh my God, I cannot stand Ian Malcolm in these books. Spielberg and Goldblum are miracle workers turning this guy into an actual charismatic, likeable protagonist.
"Libertarianism.

Because your girlfriend shouldn't be forced to use a carseat."
The other messed up thing is even if we assumed that to be true...it would not make it ok! We'd have a very big problem in the Marines!
Is this our criteria for "corruption"? I'm not calling you out, I just think I misunderstood the question now since this seems to be the prevailing idea that "corruption" is strictly "are they enriching themselves".
Not with the Bukele story that just came out...
Have you tried therapy?

There's so many! It's a whole thing in Star Wars by now!
For everyone asking what happened:
I'm so mad at Bob Iger right now I stg
It's not. The problem is it wasn't their idea and they didn't control the messaging. That's it. It's sour grapes.
The part I’m still a little unclear on is how having millions of people show up for a pro-democracy, anti-Trump street party is a bad thing
sums it up. headlines on crowd sizes and the feeling that maybe something happens (somewhere else) aren’t action, and getting a bunch of people to show up to a party for nothing isn’t organizing.

find your people and build something real.
While people like you sat on the sidelines and tut-tutted, DSA and PSL were out there signing people up. You are so focused on everything not being exactly where you want it to be to actually see the path to getting there.
there’s opportunity for real organizing to happen from these spaces, and it keeps on not happening because the people showing up only want to do this. this is their maximum. you want to break that ceiling, you gotta break the narratives defending and maintaining it.
There are plenty of third choice movies made directly to Netflix.
Somebody had used the term "paper tiger" with him, because he kept on repeating that like it was some new idiom he just came up with. At least one Ukraine maximalist actually got to him back then. But we should all know by now that his brain is pudding.
Was saying that the last switch felt different than before. He was using stronger language and had never outright said that Ukraine was winning and didn't have to give up anything. I knew it wouldn't last, but I'd like to know who it was who got him there.
x2, because there has to be something to switch from
I think it's the difference between "forgetting to do something beneficial" and "implementing a rule incorrectly".

Say they forget to use their Counterspell in their hand. That's on them. Now say they calculate Trample damage on themselves in full, instead of the excess. That's when you speak up.

I'm begging people who spend all day reading theory to be less illiterate
"characterizing Indivisible as part of the party"

Didn't they literally just start as a few guys on Reddit?
...does anything by HUNTR/X count?
