"The ghost of Martin Niemöller
Haunts the halls of history
When they came for the communists
He said ‘It’s nothing to do with me,'
What excuses would you tell yourself
If this ever happened to you?
Well I live in a city of heroes
I know what I would do."

I know this guy is dumb as shit because why would you think going after a gaggle of teens as a grown ass man is going to end in anything but embarrassment for you?

They also talk about legacy in terms of genetic material because they are doing nothing with their lives worthy of remembering after they are gone, and they all feel entitled to that without doing the work, too.
It occurs to me that these freaks tend to talk about things in terms of genes instead of love or relationships because if they did frame it in those terms they’d have to confront the fact that a significant number of men refuse to do the work to make themselves lovable
📢 “A huge amount of men between the age of 15 and 50 will not pass on their genes. They will effectively die out of the gene pool ... Should society intervene?” Steven Bartlett asked last year.

Its precinct caucus night in MN and once again I want to say this is a terrible way to decide anything, limiting access to those who can go to a specific crowded space and be functional for hours on a random Tuesday night.

When I first moved to Washington state, they had caucuses, which I had never even heard of at the time…after participating in my first (and only)one, I thought it was an insane way to choose a candidate. The loudest people would talk over, and browbeat less aggressive people.

As a codicil: One of the essential parts of improvement, for me, is actually WANTING to change the behavior. In most cases where the behavior was "sexual abuse or exploitation of vulnerable people", there isn't indication that the abusers WANT to change.

And yes, I'm talking about Neil Gaiman. I wish I weren't. I wish we were done having this conversation. But we're not, and so I am, and no, I am not peddling indulgences from my little fruit stand. I believe in redemption. That doesn't make me gullible.

Not today, anyway.

If your issue is that you take advantage of, abuse, use, and hurt people, and you're able to do this because you have money, social status, and inherent power over them, "doing the work" is a multi-year process that, yes, probably involves you giving up a lot of that money.

Seeing yet another 'using whistles is disablist' piece circulating: for the 40 millionth time, using disabled people as cover like this is disgusting and calculated to prey on people who are anxious about doing the wrong thing. Doesn't escape notice that white people are the worst offenders.

I think some people are getting way out over their skis when it comes to trying to personally link JK Rowling with Epstein (beyond just him getting invites to see a play/whatever). The yacht stuff, in particular, is a huge stretch.

basically yglesias, jain, jentleson, WelcomePAC donors etc all base their prescriptions for Dems on a statistical model that nobody can replicate, and refuse to acknowledge (a) that uncertainty dwarfs the detectable effect of moderation & (b) that the last year has proved their views wrong!!

This is the reason Wakefield lost his medical license.

But bro also hired Hugh Fudenburg, the guy who lost HIS medical license because he admitted to illegally obtaining controlled substances from his office for his own personal use. Fudenburg also claimed he could cure autism with his bone marrow.

Oh, I know! Our state got mad that Black, poor, and queer people would also have access to those funds, so we rejected them!
JIM BANKS (R-Indiana): Massachusetts, which is virtually the same size as my state (?!), received nearly $3 billion last year.

Can you explain why schools on the coast seem to get more NIH funding than schools like my state, which is doing a lot of research as well?

I hadn’t known this. Two men who were accused of sexual abuse on the Shitty Media Men document that I created back in 2017 reached out to Michael Wolff for help as they looked to sue me, and Wolf forwarded their concerns to Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein offered to help. www.jmail.world/thread/EFTA0...

The reason scammers and fraudsters are better at presentation and persuasion than legit people seems intuitive to me but in case it's not:

it's the skill that determines if they succeed! The only way to succeed if you're scamming someone is to be slick and persuasive! They think about it a lot!
this has also occurred to me and I'd say that professional demeanor and actual expertise are only maybe ~50 percent correlated. a lot of quacks are well dressed smooth talkers and a lot of legit scientists are goofy as hell
one funny consequence of educational polarization is that dems become the party of sober experts and GOP the party of wacky cranks. this has been electorally bad for democrats but crucially i think it's also substantively politically bad. many experts are wrong! many conspiracies are in fact true!

I'm convinced one of the reasons epstein was able to coast for so long is that for many sensible people including and especially educated liberals, viewing the world through a conspiratorial lens was always seen as vaguely distasteful and rube-coded
