Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between “shoestring budget” and “no expectation to generate shareholder value” which is really the best way to make art

PSA to neurotypicals - asking “why” is not arguing. “Here is how a thing is.” “Why?” Is not an argument. It’s a request for more information. Why is the thing that way? Teach me.

Columbus Day would be better received if it was about the director of the first two Home Alone movies. He made some good movies and seems genuinely nice.

Did AI already come for this person’s job (person who wrote or edited this)? Because that feels like an AI term.
new favourite New York Times term for a British thing just dropped

We got a catnip toy from the vet yesterday and my kitten cat (she is 2 years old) already broke it open and scattered the catnip everywhere. This is after she dunked it in her water yesterday.

A lot of Netflix shows and movies lately seem to just be projects for their main characters to bring along their family to have a lot of fun on set, get paid a really good amount, and make something kinda meh, and honestly that’s fine with me.

Season 2 of #ManontheInside is a bit weird. So many weird references to woke people. It’s so cringe. Do regular people actually discuss being woke that much? I’m a frequent internet user and even I don’t see it referenced that much.

Normand Meunier is a Canadian man with quadriplegia who accessed MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying) after being left for 96 hours on a stretcher in the ER.

His requests for a specialized mattress were denied.

He wasn't turned regularly.

He developed bed sores so bad, he opted to end his life.

Instead he was horribly neglected to the point where he couldn't imagine going back to the hospital, and his bed sores were too severe to be treated at home.

This is what happens. They deny and delay care, and then they will kill you.

Three months to get MAiD. A year for most speclialists.

We need legislation that would makes It so websites, recipes, images, articles, etc. that are AI generated must explicitly say that.

NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

I’m just so curious about the aftermath of those who get their posts shared by Louvre of Bluesky.

Do they delete their accounts? Do they remain exactly the same as people? Do they shrivel up in shame?

I’ve tried watching the Daily Show lately but honestly the episodes with Jon Stewart are not among my favourite. It just seems he‘s overdoing the bit or something.

And no, I’m not missing the joke, I’m very aware of what they’re trying to do.

DOGE shuts down having not found trillions of dollars of waste or saved any money.

They compromised the security of government systems, fired federal workers and oversaw the dismantling of USAID which has killed 600,000.

By 2030 approx 14 million people will have died.

That’s their legacy

What I appreciate about this clip is that it’s inspiring some very good roasts by actual humans and they don’t have to be vulgar to be funny.
