Yep. Less NTT faculty who know they can be discarded at will, but for TT folks, it's easy to forget that admin are *our managers* and when we enforce their agendas for them, we're managing ourselves on their behalf. @isaackamola.bsky.social and @elimeyerhoff.bsky.social nail this.

The post office is also super convenient now. Meanwhile, getting customer service at a private company is like gearing up for battle.
Every time I have gone to the DMV in the last 20 years it has been fast and pleasant. Gotta be an all-time turnaround.
just had a pleasant and efficient interaction with the New York State DMV. for any motor vehicle issues you might come across, Seth recommends: the DMV!

We see regularly scheduled articles about why Bluesky is bad.

But what about the obvious point that Twitter is Elon's Machine for Fascism and it's breaking reporters' brains?

I decided to write it.

Reporters need to get off Elon's Twitter

Dems need to start explicitly, publicly, loudly, repeatedly promising oversight, investigations, subpoenas, hearings, prosecutations, & jail time for those ransacking our country. I want specifics, timelines, inevitability. The new Dem House will get sworn in on 1/3/27. What happens on 1/4/27?
I’m very unhappy with Musk being sad.

That is not near enough. I want him in prison. Prosecute, jail, claw back our money.

That’s the only way to teach the next billionaire not to do crimes against the Republic.
Musk said repercussions over DOGE cuts were severe. “DOGE is just becoming the whipping boy for everything,” he said.

“So, like, something bad would happen anywhere, and we would get blamed for it even if we had nothing to do with it.”

Harvard figured out what everyone else in power needs to understand: Complicity with Trump will not save you.

Standing up isn't just the right thing to do. It's the smart thing to do. He will renege on any "deal" you make and come after you anyway.

People don't miss manufacturing jobs. They miss the effects of having 30+ percent union density. And we can build worker power again, with good policies, for the jobs most working class people actually have today rather than hoping mumbo jumbo will make it 1955 again.
When (some) people talk about bringing back manufacturing, they mean "bring back steel & auto jobs that someone can take right out of high school, and live a middle class life"
The worst part of this is that even if manufacturing jobs came back because of this (they won’t)
and even if Americans retooled for those jobs (they won’t) those jobs sucked! It’s like demanding to return to being a farming society. People fled that life the instant they could, in the millions!

Unions are more popular than the Republican Party or the Democratic Party.

This is a moment for Democrats to legislate for labor in the areas they control.

Capital has their guy.

Again, the Union that represents the people most directly impacted by a shutdown is saying that the CR is WORSE than a shutdown. Can you imagine how bad the CR is for the Union to say a shutdown is better? Listen to workers. Listen to the Union.
The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents 800,000+ federal and D.C. workers (i.e. people directly impacted by a government shutdown), is urging senators to vote no on the House GOP's CR.

In other words, AFGE is saying a government shutdown is less bad than this GOP bill.

Truly incredible how Americans can go to the polls, choose a bunch of incompetent jerks to run the country, then immediately recognize "welp everything's gonna suck now."

I dunno, maybe don't choose the incompetent jerks next time? Just sayin.
