As it is, he's just another dipshit with objectively incorrect beliefs who will ultimately fail because actually people like each other and society is not a violent struggle for survival between arbitrary racial groupings defined by Victorian pseudoscience.

As an historian I often wonder how people learned nothing from the twentieth century and how we have fallen into the mess and rise of fascism yet again and here we are. People simply *don't care* that they are in a military alliance with and dependant on a fascist state when capitalism requires it.
So Polanski wants to leave NATO,cut Defence spend & distance ourselves from USA who we rely on for essential defence apparatus& intelligence.
Then the tariffs will rise our steel industry will collapse(even more essential for defence),car ìndustry collapse 1000's jobs lost,no £££ for public services

If I had a Time Machine I'd go back to 1909 so I can ask HG Wells how the hell you pronounce Tono-Bungay

The more people are opposed to something, the better that thing is! Bad is good! At least cancer is roundly condemned, so it can't be all bad! As for so-called "Child Abuse" and "War", well,

(Years of my nerdy reading about 1685-1793 France condensed into two sentences)
Yeah they both did the best they could with the hands they were respectively dealt. Louis XIV's bullshit left a long bloody shadow that he personally never suffered from (unless you count the anal fistula as, idk, karmic punishment for what he left his descendants to face)

Donald Trump's arsehole is probably well lit and spacious compared to between his ears. Not even joking, just pointing out the obvious
Donald's darkest orifice is the utter abyss in his skull.

I watched this last night on Fawesome. It's weird and very, very bad. Some of the dialogue is verbatim from Salten's novel

I have to share the existence of this. Trust me, the whole movie is like this

This is what centrists think is the highest attainable virtue, but you're not supposed to say the "apparently" bit out loud
"continuity and apparent stability" is what you *want*?!?! Only "apparent" stability? And you knew that going in? 🤯 this mf actually admits it, shows a whole empty centrist worldview in 4 words

This is a global far right power grab, so the sooner everybody realizes that and puts aside their deeply outdated notions around national identity, which got us here to begin with, the better. The only way out is through, but the only way through is all of us fighting these climate warlords together

Lot of people shocked by this but at least half of it was totally standard London bus driver behaviour in the 1990s. I'm not joking, just being honest. Yes, the odd driving, decisions not to stop at the right bus stops, trapping passengers in doors, speeding dangerously
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

I saw a physiotherapist today, referred to by my GP, and he illustrated some of his info by googling it and then showing me the "ai summary" 😭🤢🤮💩

I assume he would have noticed if it was very wrong as he really seemed to know his stuff, but still. Oh. My. God.

Spring-boarding off this post to say: in so far as fascism is remotely coherent, I define it as the belief that a government should be run like a business.
Reform is a private Limited company majority-owned by one man, in the interests of making money for that man and the shareholders.

We should casually talk about the inevitability of a Reform government the same way we’d talk about casually selling the country to Dyson or Wetherspoons.
I keep seeing people on the left talking as if Reform are a shoo-in for the next government, and I beg you, please don't do that. If we on the left talk about them as if their victory is inevitable, it will become inevitable. Every time we talk about a Reform government, we legitimise that idea...

The reason no one wants to reach for TRC is because it did not, in fact, fix all the problems. I mean obviously yes apartheid ended. But the idea that America's future is some ugly cross between post-imperial Britain and post-apartheid South Africa is too fucking bleak for anyone to want to say

WAIT I DON'T READ HARRY POTTER: I've just heard the game these kids play in their magical Police Academy is literally "catch the snitch"?!?? Like, that's genuinely what the game is?? And people took these books seriously for 2 decades?

"Snitches get stitches", but as official school policy?!?

Doing an "escalated quickly" on my own post, but the recent murder of a queer woman (Renee Good) in America brought this to mind. Misogyny *knows* when a woman isn't being "male gaze", even when they know NOTHING ELSE about the woman before them
I can go for a meal with one of my best and longest-running friends who is quite clearly dyke-coding (hair, clothes) and men waiters will have NO HESITATION shouting at her while pretending to be polite to me. They know, even if they can't articulate *what* they know
