Teens in the shop last week - couple of girls were freaking out cos a mate had turned off her location 🤷‍♂️
People are very hard on young people on here, lack of critical thinking, lack of responsibility etc, and then you see something like this and it all makes a different kind of sense.

A side effect of watching actual 70s TV is seeing trailers for big modern dramas set in the 70s and realising the costume, hair and makeup depts are straight up cowards

got a book on the go atm that I'm strictly only reading on trains
Trains really are the highpoint of human development. There is no more elegant, relaxing way to cross large distances than in a train. The ability to look out the big windows, read a book, have meal or a drink, walk around and converse with fellow passengers is something magical.
A book and a train is a hell of a combination.

*bonus points for the snowy landscape.

Anomalous behaviour on the new Anna von Hausswolff album, twice now the cart has skipped to the label when it's got half way across the B side, no heavy modulation or schmutz accumulation evident, quick wipe of the tip and it plays fine, sounds fine, odd

Look, if you're watching a film at Christmas, it's a Christmas film - Transporter 2? Christmas film. The Wages of Fear? Christmas film. The Painted Bird? Christmas film. Kentucky Fried Movie? Christmas film. Triumph of the Will? Christmas film.
Time for the arguments about whether Rosemary's Baby is a Christmas film.

Long thread, you may have to get it summarised somehow, maybe an app of some sort can do it
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

dynamic nose bonk opportunity
Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:

Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.

Nobody in my fairly affluent solidly tory town of 25k people will pay this tax
We’ve mapped the mansion tax.

You can see who's paying - which constituency, which postcode - and how many "mansions" are near you.
