Today I lost a dear friend at the age of 42 to cancer!

I have two things to say. The world will miss Shalaya, she was everything a human should aspire to be, kind, generous, loving, curious and playful.

And Fuck Trump & the GOP for gutting funding to medical research!

That's a great point! I try to remind drivers that the most danger they face is from other drivers. Yes as cyclist we get super defensive about the risks to our own lives, but statistically it's drivers/passengers being killed by other drivers at very alarming rates!

And it was only that cheap because I have always driven cars around 10+ years old, that were paid for in cash, often did my own maintenance. If I had had payments, taken the car to mechanics for everything, had full insurance that number would easily be double, which is close to the AAA average!

This is victim blaming at its best! This kid was hit by a car and the entire article is about scooter safety????

Drivers kills nearly 150-200 people metro wide annually. Most are other car drivers/passengers. When will the media focus on the real problems/threats ?

One needs those massive bonuses to sooth what's left after selling your soul to fascism!

Have you ever stopped to consider that a sale in a store is due to overproduction with no demand? That entire stores such as Marshalls, TJMax, & others exist because companies overproduce products they can't sell? Worth a thought!

Here is the thing. Democrats passed legislation to boost renewable energy, the vast majority of those projects and funding were in Red States. The two parties are not the same!

Omg, I am so very happy to hear you are safe!!!! We really shouldn't have to deal with nearly getting seriously injured or killed just moving though the day like we do.

I counted up once that I've spent more than $200k in total car ownership in my 32 years of driving and that is without a single car payment. $200k sounds high but that's just $6,250 give or take a year.

It is. You pick a brick and mortar store to support and part of your audio book purchases goes to them. Same with bookstore.com

Sorry to hear. Knowing we all will be disabled at some point even if temporarily is a great reminder to continue to fight for a better built environment because one day that curb cut you advocated for may be the curb cut that makes the difference if you can go out today and do what you need to do!

I have started submitting bike racks to Google maps and it looks like a lot of people are seeing them. You too can submit them. While they might not show up on the map, searching bike racks near me if you are in the river market area will pull them up!
50,000 people have viewed the location Bike rack locations I've submitted

I swear, the reason I have a retirement fund is because I've not had a car payment since 2000. Average America will spend like $700k on cars over their lifetime. That is insane!

It's pretty clear cars are the most important thing in our society. Not people, not kids, cars. We design our houses around them. Design our towns/cities for their convenience. Pass laws that make it a lower crime if you kill someone with one rather than nearly any other object.

So sad to see how bad NPR is doing. It's gotten so bad I've turned it off. KCUR is doing good work, but I just can't listen to NPR "bothsides" reporting any more.

You probably cannot afford a car, and you almost certainly can't afford not to have one. This is the definition of a policy failure.

AAA estimates the average cost of owning a car is $12,297 a year, and recommends drivers spend no more than 10 percent of their income on car costs. This means you should make 120K to afford the average cost. Median *household* income in the US is $77K. The math just doesn't work.

"there’s no direct evidence or eyewitnesses tying him to the crime scene, and there was egregious misconduct by the jury foreman."

Despite this, our death cult Governor who's addicted to executing people is moving ahead with execution!

Yesterday, Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe, a Catholic who has called himself “pro-life,” announced he would not grant Lance Shockley clemency.

In a flurry of recent legal filings, the Department of Corrections and Shockley’s team sparred over his spiritual advisor choice ahead of tonight’s execution.
