Give a man a fish and someone with a thousand fishes is going to bitch about people getting free handouts. Teach a man to fish? Yeah, that person with a thousand fishes is going to bitch about that too.

trump's invulnerability primarily functions through the consensus that he is invulnerable
I am losing my gd mind seeing the number of people on here who are so doompilled that they cannot imagine that telling millions of people, including tons of MAGAs, that they’re out of food money and they also can’t have health insurance anymore might have any effect whatsoever on anything
Since SNAP benefits are gone next month and the new ACA enrollment hikes also start to reveal themselves to consumers... it's wild to think that both programs are tilted towards states AND demographics that favored Trump in '24

As a scientist, the most accurate part of Frankenstein (2025) is when somebody decides that they need your science results NOW and you go into a frenzy to get it finished

It’s a mistake to outsource most writing to AI.

Even if the output is accurate and engaging, something valuable is lost in the process. Jotting down intuitions and spelling out hunches is how we develop and refine our ideas.

Writing is where we do our best thinking.

Elon Musk's DOGE has spent the last several months dismantling the departments & agencies that regulate HIS businesses.

Our report found that Musk has a direct business interest in over 70% of the agencies & departments DOGE targeted.

The conflicts of interest are endless.

This statement about the transphobic Supreme Court ruling by the UK's Crab Museum (yes a museum about crabs) is better than 99% of the statements I've seen on the topic

When I was 5, I loved science, which I took to be planets and magnets and chemicals and shit.

Soon I realized science was a collective human activity, and these were just the objects of its attention.

Anyway, whenever I read an OpEd on how science isn't political, I think "Are you 5 years old?"

Of course, it should go without saying that a President of the United States and especially an illegitimate one can’t constitutionally abolish a cabinet department—say the Department of Education—established by Congress.

I’m a PhD student in nuclear engineering. I would not be who I am today, or the scientist I am today, without The Chronicles of Narnia, The Land Before Time, The X-Files, Frankenstein, Brothers Karamazov, and so many more.
Hey, artists, in case you were wondering if your work matters: I'm a scientist working on climate change and biodiversity, and I would not be who I am today without The Lorax, The Secret of NIMH, Watership Down, The Last Unicorn, and The X-Files. I know I'm not alone. Thank you for all you do.

I'm gonna keep reposting examples of people not taking shit because it's important for us to see that you can, simply, reject the shit. Say "Uh... no no no, we will not be tolerating that."
My kid lives in Siddall Hall and sent me these yesterday. First is what was put up by the school, second is the students’ alteration of the administrations’ cowardice.

“We had to erase trans people or we couldn’t get our federal funding”

Fuck the federal funding. You fight, you sue, you do not become complicit in our mass erasure.

We are all in this together, and we all go down together.

I will not allow us to be jettisoned or erased.
FWIW, the choice was scrubbing their website or potentially closing down because their funding was turned off. Sure they could have sued, but what then?
This is a stunning betrayal by Whitman Walker in DC.

You CANNOT jettison the trans community to protect yourself.

It’s shameful. I got my name changed at WWH. I have promoted their research.

Now they are capitulating to save gay people at trans people’s expense by trying to erase us.
