An outdoorsy photoshoppy mole- likes National Trust scones & Dartmoor. A bookish mole in a hole seeking the return of integrity. Not sure this account adds much to it though. #AltText - no AI🚫

Two takeaways for today:
🔥 The sentencing of Gill is a perfect excuse to announce a public enquiry into Russia's involvement in UK politics – including Brexit.
🔥 Trump's demands on Ukraine prove that he's Putin's bitch – and no amount of sucking up to him by UK or EU leaders will change that.

I think this clip is the key to understanding why Trump acted the way he did with Mamdani. His world revolves around TV ratings.

We have a US administration trying to bully Ukrainians into accepting Russia’s proposal that their sovereignty be undone. Aside from the naked injustice of this, there are five basic practical reasons why it would make the world far more dangerous.

An arrowhead made of #meteorite iron: around 1,500 BC, a meteorite struck #Estonia. A fragment of it arrived - presumably in the baggage of an amber trader - at what is now Lake Biel, #Switzerland. An arrowhead was then made there from the cosmic iron.
From Mörigen, 900-800 BC.

I used occasionally to take our children into the National Gallery or NPG, promising to be out in 15 minutes (not on if you had to pay to go in). One of those children is in a free Oxford gallery this morning with his sub-3-year-old - passing the appreciation on to the next generation.
Wandered on a whim into the National Portrait Gallery. No entry charge, queues or crowding. Outstanding, interesting, famous art. Smart building

It (the G8 clause) suggests that this is less a peace plan and more a trip into Putin's psyche. It's also interesting because it gives more weight to the idea that Trump's fixation on letting Russia back into the G7/8 comes from repeated conversations about it with Putin.
