I have opinions on things, especially DC theatre, especially ones that got a major critic to block me on that other hellsite. They are mine, but you can borrow them.

The politics ones are extremely mine, especially the ones with my name on them.

Under their own supposed logic, if there was a bigger boat, why are we wasting very expensive missiles on the little boat?

Clearly because they are ghouls making snuff videos and it's easier to see people die when you obliterate a little boat.

A thread on obscenity. I'll get back to these cars. But first: tonight I took my 12yrold to see Nuremberg. He's a pretty serious movie watcher. Thought Zone of Interest was genius. I knew he could handle this. But this isn't a movie review. It's about IRL... 1/

This really is grotesque: they went through years-long citizenship processes and are now being denied simply because if the country they are from. It’s formalized bigotry.

There was no call for this other than the desire to shoot snuff videos.

This is not about the new horrible National Security Strategy, but it's from the same brainworms that brought the new horrible National Security Strategy.
My brother in Christ, reindustrialization is based on international capital flows, not dumbass ideas to move down the value chain by turning colleges into vocational schools. You do realize that modern industry is almost always *high* skilled automation?

Read your Michael Pettis, you utter clown.
No reindustrialising? Our academic institutions are a part of the problem, overproducing elites and funnelling them into bullshit unproductive jobs. Half the universities need to close or become vocational colleges. You didn't even mention productivity.

Brexit is in the past. That ship has sailed.

A court with a normal-ish conservative majority would have been tolerable. I'm not eager for court packing, impeaching justices, and other such options. But this court sticking around post-Trump is untenable. They've already torched their own legitimacy, the only question is what do we do about it.

The way I'd put it is that there's currently a global struggle between democracy and nationalist gangster-capitalism, that this struggle is simultaneously unfolding both within and between states, and that the US currently sits at its epicentre
The New Cold War is against nationalist authoritarianism, and the US is on their side.
Little (open) sign that Europe has even begun to grapple with this.

Exactly. The new U.S. National Security Strategy is much worse for Europe than most people had imagined. Europe is described as a bigger threat than both China and Russia, and they outline the need for regime change in Western European countries as part of a civilizational struggle.
I assumed the NSS would just ignore/deprioritize Europe (It did that on defense/NATO).

But the actual message was: Europe matters to us, we must save it from itself, the EU and its wokeness. Thus, the USG is going all in on foreign interference to help the far-right win a civilizational war.

This is the federal government trying to manipulate insurance companies and state public health agencies into killing children. "Killing" is not hyperbole here: "depraved indifference to human life" is part of many murder statutes and that's precisely the motivating force behind this decision.

Of course the guy did the Napoleon thing. Not to suggest FIFA has an equivalent jurisdiction to the pre-Italian Unification papacy (reputation is a little more akin to the 16th century papacy), but the power relation of "I could kick you out" is not entirely dissimilar.

worth saying that some portion of the freed slaves were themselves illegal aliens having been brought illegally into the united states by smugglers. if the birthright clause applies to them, it applies to undocumented immigrants
Here is the question presented. It's a relatively clean vehicle for the Supreme Court to finally decide whether it is lawful for the president to deny birthright citizenship to the children of immigrants. www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/25...
