Hey, it’s cool to like things. Tell somebody about the thing you enjoy. Maybe they like a similar thing!

Yesterday I was crocheting while waiting in a doctor’s office and a lady sat down beside me. She started telling me about the baskets she was crocheting for Christmas. It was a delight!!

I promise you, creative people never get tired of hearing you say their work was meaningful to you in some way, no matter how small. Artists often work by themselves, running just on vibes so a word of affirmation is pure gold and can keep us juiced for a looooong time.
I’ve sometimes fallen into the trap of thinking that complementing a creative person for their work is less sophisticated or desired than discussion or debate about it but very often the best thing you can say to them is hell yeah and that doesn’t make you dumb it just makes you nice

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

My hot take is that I don't give a fuck if someone without disabilities gets an accommodation. They get a slightly better grade on a test? Tests are just part of a grade or portfolio and also, who FUCKING CARES. I care that a disabled person isn't *penalized* for needing more time.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

I’ve put all my open art call deadlines on my calendar in RED. Here’s hoping that helps offload the brain strain of trying to hold them all in my head. #WhatItsLikeToBeAnArtist #ThinkingAboutMaking #MakingThings #ArtistHack #InHerStudio

What if, and I’m just spitballing here, we used the national plan that’s already in place and just opened it up for everyone to use. We could call it Medicare for All. It would allow us to make sure folks had medical coverage and we could keep Amazon and Costco outta the loop. Win/win!
Roger Marshall on the GOP healthcare plan: "We do need some type of reinsurance pool to take care of the high risk people. We would like to have association healthcare plans so Amazon or Costco, someone like that, could sell health plans across state plans."

As the admin of my Co-Op gallery I give out rejections to potential members all the time.

It’s good to be able to say yes, (and have the membership say yes) and to a younger more diverse body of artists, as well.

In cultivating diversity, nothing less than direct, intentional pursuit is enough.

Make art you want to make, even when it doesn’t meet your expectations. Trying is more important than liking it.

It’s fine. I promise nobody died.

Yeah, when I first heard this was a thing years ago I was all “Why are you deliberately avoiding George and Andrew? What is the point of that?”
The problem with Whamageddon is it involves avoiding listening to a great song. Which seems self defeating.

If this country bails out these tech dumbasses and they walk away richer than ever you are gonna get to see my villain origin story play out in real time.
People aren't paying attention to this.

We are going to be forced to bail out AI and Crypto.

It's just a matter of when.

Be prepared.

It'll be like 2008 but so much worse and dumber.
I’m reading Sorkin’s 1929

Jesus. On top of the usual Wall Street over-leveraged fuckery, this time they’re going to demand ordinary Americans bail out crypto as well
