It's when they tell you you're on in thirty seconds and all you have are a pair of crotchless jorts and a nervous smile that this shit gets a little pressured.

If I'm allowed to choose the tune, the costumes, and rehearse until I'm confident of my act, gender performance can be fun!

“but someone needs to talk about the tech right” someone has. my Phd, written a decade ago, was about tech right and tech masculinity. i’m an expert in it and i hate neoreactionaries. but i get more insults to my very being, more “you should be shoved in a locker,” here than i did in high school

this might be a drug-addled policy change, as is the style these days, but a slightly more motivated theory is that it's the result of an internal far-right faction fight, an attempt to embarrass nativist groups for being misled en masse by swarthy foreign hustlers.

You may want to imagine yourself as that guy who says loud no to fascism when everybody around cheers yes. Who knows, you may be that guy. You should definitely try to be them, when and if the moment comes. But the clear odds are that you'd be one of the people cheering or keeping quiet.

this is possibly the most obvious bubble of the past century. the problem is that circumstances have created a perpetual sheep-shearing system of new entrants.

The thing is, all of it is true, just of different groups, sometimes different groups who had little to no contact with each other (which doesn't disprove your point; far from it).

All the instances that I scrolled through saying Trump was not anti-war were all 2025 post-election posts petulantly insisting that he'd been saying that ALL ALONG before the election, but w/the exception of one "I didn't say it like THAT" thread the week election day the rest are basically all:

but my general experience is that big models are hitting a wall and smaller (not small, not really) models are catching up to them. which is also really really good. GLM-4.5/4.6 is also a really interesting thing to check out

this also means no AGI for you, sam altman, which I am also okay with.

my hunch is (and this is generally unanswerable, this is vibes) that what you're describing is closer to "things you have to prompt better for and clearer for" than "things newer models are inextricably better at", which aligns with what I'm saying
