It might stop the Greens hitting 30%, but the Greens aren't trying to hit 30%, and they don't need to hit 30% to cause Starmer problems

But there's another issue - it could make people who *do* care about this stuff likelier to try and stop *Labour* at GE29 for fear of govt dependent on the Greens
FWIW, the NATO line worked on Corbyn which is why I suspect that Starmer thinks that it will work on Polanski.
Ahh a low-salience issue and then a vote for Bart is a vote for anarchy. You can see the political geniuses behind the present disaster at work.

Marwan Barghouti's lawyer Ben Marmarelli: there are reports that Barghouti was badly assaulted in prison, they "broke his ribs, teeth, fingers and cut part of his ear". Israeli Prison Service refused to comment or let the lawyer meet with him.

Netanyahu's candidate for the new head of Mossad, General Roman Gupman, was the person who built and coordinated the infamous "Gaza Humanitarian Fund". The GHF "hunger games" model of aid supply led to the killing of at least a thousand Palestinians seeking food, and the wounding of many more.

"Today, Israeli leaders find the status quo tolerable. But when Palestinian violence reveals that it is not, those leaders—having made separation impossible—could inch closer to policies of mass expulsion."

Yavne: A Jewish Case for Equality in Israel-Palestine
The two-state solution is dead. It’s time for liberal Zionists to abandon Jewish–Palestinian separation and embrace equality.

Reminder: the Israeli government never approved "Trump's 20 points peace plan"
Neither did Hamas, for that matter.

The "Gaza ceasefire" is a period of reduced intensity in terms of Israeli attacks.
For the Israeli government this is merely a lull until the genocide can be resumed with full strength, with the aim of mass ethnic cleansing.
Any other plans would have to be imposed on Israel.

In Lebanon. Can hear the Israeli drone constantly now. I’ve only been back for a day but folks here deal with it 24/7, for months. It’s psychological torture. You can even see it, just flying around. The Israelis want to let everyone know that they can kill whoever they want whenever they want.

If Israel relinquishes its ethnocratic character and becomes a civic democracy, in which national identity and belonging do not depend on the religion of your mother, it would be a Israeli, rather than a Jewish state. It would still not be a Palestinian one.
Bi-nationalism is a social fact.

When you're well embedded within a political eco-system, and not at risk of dismissal/prison, it's not so difficult to "speak truth to power". Being called nasty things by "the other camp" is unpleasant, but within your eco system it's a win.

Much harder to say things your in-group won't like.

Netanyahu "asks" the Israeli president Herzog to cancel his trial.
This is not a pardon request, in any meaningful sense. Netanyahu has not accepted any wrongdoing, and is not planning to step down.
There's a good chance Herzog accepts the request. Netanyahu made him president for this role.
