When you're well embedded within a political eco-system, and not at risk of dismissal/prison, it's not so difficult to "speak truth to power". Being called nasty things by "the other camp" is unpleasant, but within your eco system it's a win.

Much harder to say things your in-group won't like.

Netanyahu "asks" the Israeli president Herzog to cancel his trial.
This is not a pardon request, in any meaningful sense. Netanyahu has not accepted any wrongdoing, and is not planning to step down.
There's a good chance Herzog accepts the request. Netanyahu made him president for this role.

13 people killed in Syria
2 Palestinians executed in Jenin
2 Palestinians killed near “yellow line” in Gaza
2 Palestinian children killed in southern Gaza drone strike.
7 Palestinians injured by settlers in West Bank, one by gunfire."

For an alternative vision for Israel/Palestine to materialise, it would require a buy-in from mainstream Jewish Israeli society, aka "Zionists".
This simple observation does not lead to a specific political vision or course of action.

A meaningful turn of North America Jews against a Kahanist Israel can happen in 2 ways.
1) Anti-Zionists become a majority
2) A coalition of anti-Zionists and liberal Zionists (those who really care about the liberal part) find enough common ground

option 1, if viable at all, would take longer

More often than not, our politics are a reflection of where we happen to come from, not our individual choices.
If you were born Jewish Israeli, then there's 80% chance you would be supporting the campaign against Gaza.
That's just the unfortunate statistics.

There are over 10,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons. Is it not time that we released some of these people?

While the situation in Gaza remains desperate, the biggest short term risk is in the West Bank. The settlers'+IDF relentless campaign of terror, and the PA weakness could lead to sudden collapse and dramatic escalation in ethnic cleansing and carnage.

My position is that, given that antisemitism exists, protests against synagogues would always backfire, regardless of the legitimacy of the grievance. I'm not interested in the ethical debate. It's remarkably counter productive, and it's disappointing people can't see this

This is exactly it. There is also an insidious genre of essay which is “let me write about Sudan once and never again, just so I can say I did it, and then get back to asking why people are obsessed about Palestine“. These people can never discuss Sudan on its own terms.
The people who say "why this obsession with Palestine? why don't you post about Sudan?" never post about Sudan themselves.
What they mean is "it's fine you don't care about Sudan. You should be similarly indifferent to Palestine"

(of course, many people do post about both and other crises)

In another astounding ruling, the Israeli supreme court orders the eviction of Beduin Palestinian Ras Jaraba village to make way for the expansion of the city of Dimona. 500 residents, whose ancestors have lived on the land since Ottoman time, will be expelled to establish a Jewish neighbourhood.
