ICE Shooting Should Be Mourned — and Investigated
The simple question that Army lawyer Joseph Welch posed to Senator Joseph McCarthy in 1954 — “Have you no sense of decency?” — helped end a witch hunt that was tearing the country in two.

Once you start thinking about how many pieces of technology were developed to share dubiously consensual pictures of women's bodies, you can't stop seeing it. I wrote about it here. www.vox.com/culture/4747...

Fully agree: the budget is a huge win AND things are definitively not OK. An entire generation of early career scientists has been severely affected, many more senior scientists have been pushed out of jobs, and there’s a lingering air of uncertainty that will affect decision-making for *years*.
This is a HUGE win…and one that happened because we ~collectively~ said “NO!”

But AAAS coming in and saying on record to the NYT “Science is doing ok. Things are not bad at all…” is baffling.

If things are hard for you as a scientist, please share in the comments.

A look back at ‘Blackstar,’ his final masterpiece released two days earlier…
David Bowie's 'Blackstar' Turns 10
