It is best to love first what you are fitted to love, I suppose: you must start somewhere and have some roots, and the soil of the Shire is deep.
If you ever want to experience creeping horror, be a 16yo kid trying to cut from 190 or so during football to 160 for wrestling at thanksgiving.

And having to visit not fewer than four thanksgiving dinners because your parents keep getting divorced.

I once had an aversion to deviled eggs because my dad’s second wife made me eat some when I was six and I threw it all up on my grandmother’s formal dining table.

But I overcame that through sheer force of Will when I was 28.

Pete don’t have that dawg in him
We all believe in improving efficiency, and a team genuinely focused on that could do a world of good.

But the DOGE we could have had is a far cry from the DOGE we actually got.

Charlie Brown did in fact have hoes, the “no” meme means “yes gimme some hooch”.

The old world dies, the new world struggles to be born.
I just learned the Bugs Bunny No meme doesn't even come from him saying no. It's a frame rotated 90 degrees from him taking a drink from a bottle. I needed to share this.

When I was a Troop commander, the November family readiness group meeting was a squadron wide potluck that was open for all troopers. I made a twenty pound turkey and convinced Kim to make a bourbon chocolate pecan pie.
I don’t really get pecan pie as a concept, but it’s very good at drawing the safeties away from the targets I really wanna hit at dessert

The Wyoming Rule is one of my niche political fixations and would do a lot to form a more perfect union and doesn’t require any constitutional amendment.
No one expected that CA would be 40 million and VT would be 500,000. (In the early 20th c, MA had more electors than CA.) You can fix that- by expanding the House, adding "at large" electors, maybe, and adding at least two new states (DC and PR), but be careful about attacking federalism. /4

Republicans can often sense that I’m a very special boy. That I’m not like the others.
Republicans can often sense I have actual values and beliefs while we both realize that Corporate Democrats are following checks and doing whatever their handlers tell them to do.

We can have an actual disagreement based on something tangible rather than just gamesmanship.
