Just returned home from the anti-ICE protest in Portland today. A 100% peaceful crowd that the Portland Police Department (PPD) estimated to be "in the thousands" marched past ICE's Portland HQ.
ICE, of course, responded with a barrage of tear gas and chemical rounds to suppress free speech.

Presidents can protect federal property, but that power is narrow. DHS may act on federal land; general city policing, protest suppression, or military use is tightly constrained by the First Amendment, federalism, and the Insurrection Act. Rhetoric ≠ constitutional authority.
