Trump has set up a new club where CEOs, tech bros, and foreign oligarchs can pay $500,000 to join in order to get access to the Trump Cabinet who will all be there regularly.

Just because the grift is all public doesn’t mean this isn’t the most corrupt White House in history.

Our opponents still refuse to learn the lessons from the ECOT scandal. Ohio taxpayers need more transparency, not less.

This is a reminder that it’s the people in power who are costing everyday Ohioans.

@petebuttigieg.bsky.social, this is a great post and explains how we got here and how we can rebuild democratic systems. How can we make this synopsis more accessible to all Americans?
🧵 @jburnmurdoch.ft.com is spot on about the conditions in his FT piece. Liberal democracy held it together thanks to growth, good demographics, and the promise of a better future. Those days are gone, and that’s the "why" behind the erosion. However...
Democratic politicians have, though, pursued growth in GDP at the expense of other values. One response to @jburnmurdoch.ft.com pessimistic scenario is refocus on those values, combined with egalitarianism, sufficiency and quality of life. Not "it's the economy, stupid" but "it's the the society"

I've seen this go by a few times on TikTok now and I have to say, I love this idea. We need a way to convince people to keep running even if they don't win, maybe building the loss into it as a troll move is the secret.

i don’t think people on bluesky understand the severity of this situation.

i woke up to literally hundreds of texts from friends and family thinking about either moving back home to india or applying to other countries for jobs. this includes me.
Those on an H1B cannot return to the US from tomorrow (Sunday) unless paying $100K. This is an out-of-the blue presidential action. We’ll see software engineers stranded abroad.

One easy to predict outcome: those on US visas will travel less… for work, for conferences etc.

What we learned in Ohio, GOP will happily lie and deceive.

It's about education. It's about selling. As Trump's policies start taking effect later this year, showing school voucher expansion, hard numbers of how much families are paying in tariffs and lost medical care is critical.
My colleague @burgessev.bsky.social and I talked to Dems about the TX gerrymander mess. Some are warning that Trump could lock in an Orban-style dictatorship if they don't respond in kind... some queasy that they'd lose both the map war and the moral high ground. www.semafor.com/article/07/3...

If Texas Republicans pass this map, it would shift Trump's median seat margin from 3.1 points to 3.8, while he won nationally by just 1.5.

But Republicans were already poised to pass a new gerrymander in Ohio & have recently been considering mid-decade gerrymanders like Texas in several more states
