America is now at the heavily armed secret police doing warrantless door-to-door house raids in search of undesirable ethnicities and/or political dissenters stage. The difference from well known historical cases is down to scale.
A video of ICE agents conducting door-to-door searches today in Minneapolis

The homeowner requests a warrant repeatedly, is told they don't require one, then is told they're getting it, then the agents storm in anyway

They also point a taser at her to try and disrupt filming

This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

Remember how Republicans justified police state incursions on privacy with the old saw that if you have nothing to hide…
Sec Noem signed a new policy barring congressional visits to ICE facilities without a week's advance notice.

100%. Big tent, not letting the perfect be the enemy of the good, etc, etc, cliche, cliche
When you go to protests you’re going to encounter some corny and cringe people you’re not fully aligned with in various ways and I think that’s OK and not something to get Yosemite Sam mad about.
seeing some centrists complaining about "internet leftists" and inferring that "winemoms" outnumbered them at the rallies today, can you stop making this all about you man? The people, united, etc

It is the position of the Trump Administration that its agents can come into any state and city in America (let alone other countries) and kill people and that state and city have no jurisdiction to inquire about it.

Treat any Trump official accordingly.
Noem on Minnesota officials: "They have not been cut out. They don't have any jurisdiction in this investigation."

Yeah this kind of logic is how environmentalism has stayed so white for a half century, and I’m done with that extremely strategist-y “reality”
Yeah I mean it’s not really PC to say this but extremely poor or marginalized people are usually a bad persuasion target in a primary! Sorry but that’s just reality!

This is just one example, but this story is the perfect example of why mediocre white guys are against DEI and this is the “American Dream” they’re trying to preserve. This is the “western culture” they want to protect, and anti-discrimination laws and policies destroy that.

I'll say again: we are oddly selective about the government services about which we will say, they operate at a loss.

We say Amtrak and the post office "lose money" but we never say highways, the court system, the Pentagon, etc lose money
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

And to be clear, the mayor's 2026 proposal is not just a "no police cuts" budget -- it's a budget in which CPD (already the city's most expensive dept. by far) received a larger year-over-year net increase of non-grant funds than any other dept.

Larger than most other departments' entire budgets!
