Today there was an attempted ICE raid in Bensonhurst & community members showed up. Even though NYPD collaborated with ICE by trying to disburse the crowd; community members stood their ground & ICE left without kidnapping a single person per the rapid response groups I'm on. We protect us!

This depends a lot on age and location. American Baby Boomers’ high school history class was full of nationalist lies and omissions.
I’m 50 and I’m among the oldest people who, in a US public school, read primary sources about what a monster Columbus was.

The hill I'll die the hardest on is that almost everything "WE WERE NEVER TAUGHT IN SCHOOL" (slavery, Irish famine, etc) is stuff that you were taught in school but weren't paying any attention to because you were 14 and thinking about girls/boys/football/scifi/all of the above instead of the lesson
The comments here that are questioning the history curriculum: WE LEARN THIS IN SCHOOL. I DON'T KNOW HOW PEOPLE MISS THIS.
