Writer of things.

Lover of Batman, Stephen King, Tom Petty, John Carpenter, the Coen bros., and general nerd stuff... oh, and baseball.

Mostly I collect stacks of movies and books. Physical media forever.

Finally got around to BALLERINA. Loved it! Ana is amazing, of course, but I was surprised to find it had the best story of the franchise outside of the original JW. I mean, I dig the hell out of 2-4, but they're basically two hours of story dragged over six hours of action.

Started my new Star Trek project tonight... going to watch all of the OG, TNG, and then maybe more if I'm still feeling it. Have never seen it all, so should hopefully be a good time.

The only downside to my 6pm-6am work schedule is I never really interact with anyone on the old social media machine anymore.

One upside, though, is that I never really interact with social media anymore.

I want to meet her parents. They named their daughter (who is fantastic in OBAA) after quite literally my two favorite things -- Batman Forever and Toy Story. Those were the first two movies I ever loved. I bet they're cool people!

Well, used some Cinemark rewards to get myself a ticket for the new AVATAR the Tuesday after release. XD screen, 3D, popcorn and drink. Only ended up having to pay $15 out of pocket.

I can't wait to see MAN FINDS TAPE. Listening to Peter and Paul on The Kingcast right now (while playing PowerWash Simulator 2, of course).

As someone who would cover my eyes to block out painful car headlights even when I was a child in the 90s, I can't even describe what a nightmare it is for me driving at night now. If I didn't work night shift I'd simply never go out after dark again. My blue eyes weren't made for this shit.
I wish we, like, regulated shit nowadays. Between car bloat, blinding headlines, and neighbourhoods packed with rental suites but no on-property parking, driving is an absolute nightmare now.
Nearly all drivers say vehicles' lights are too bright in study
The study, commissioned by the Department for Transport, was completed by Berkshire's TRL.

Finally got to see PREDATOR: BADLANDS and oooooooooh yeah that's the shit right there.

Another blind spot tonight: NATURAL BORN KILLERS. Mostly very strong, a little sloppy in its messaging. The stuff with Russell Means is inexcusably racist and adds nothing to the story.

Very excited for this one.
***ANNOUNCEMENT***

Coming on February 24th on #4K and Blu-ray in the US from @criterion.bsky.social: #TheManEWhoWasntThere (2001)!

The Coen brothers peer into the existential abyss of the atomic age in this coolly riveting, drolly profound noir thriller. In a performance of masterfully

Hey, @rianjohnson.bsky.social. Is that a DEATH TO SMOOCHY reference in the new trailer?

Finally watching one of my big blind spots, THE TWO JAKES. I remember going crazy for CHINATOWN when I discovered it in high school and have seen it a dozen times. I just bizarrely didn't even know this movie existed until a decade or so ago and then I waited for the 4K.

... Cool.

The version you want has been made repeatedly.
Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ is a little too in love with the monster. Jacob Elordi is phenomenal as the Creature, but the film’s happy ending saps the character of its original complexity.

This was an all-time classic Weekend Update. Had as much fun with everything as I'm sure NBC would allow (and probably then some).

Hope the fine folks at IGN never read the Dark Tower books. The Dandelo is really going to have them putting out a whole lot of confused "explanation" articles.

As usual, I'll be the weird one out and say that I really enjoyed Edgar Wright's THE RUNNING MAN, including the ending. And you're not going to pull some "well you don't love the book then" shit, because I've read it so many times that I've had to replace multiple copies from wearing the spine out.

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

Made my first Barnes & Noble trip for the November 50% Criterion sale.

Grabbed BURDEN OF DREAMS, FLOW, READ MY LIPS, FIRE ON THE PLAINS, and THE BURMESE HARP 4Ks.

Had already ordered the Wes Anderson box set and BREAKFAST CLUB 4K online.

Went ahead and snagged the new SPOTLIGHT 4K, too.

Having a weird night shift schedule means spending my "weekends" watching a lot of movies. Last night was THE NIGHT OF THE JUGGLER, which was quite good! Tonight was BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA, which was not.

This is the worst news I've ever heard. How do I retract my 200,000 fraudulent mail-in ballots?!

Well, that's that. Beautiful game. Improved on basically all aspects of its predecessor, particularly in the story department.

I'm sure the fact that he's Guillermo del Toro helped make this happen, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a 45-minute behind the scenes doc alongside FRANKENSTEIN on Netflix. Here's hoping it gets the Criterion treatment like PINOCCHIO, as well.

Wish they'd give other directors these perks.

It's the first Friday in November, which means the Barnes & Noble 50% Off Criterion sale is live now!

Just grabbed the Wes Anderson 4K box set for $250.
