Also on the chopping block from Toronto's parks bylaw: the longstanding rule against using “profane language” in parks. Also you will now be allowed to be boisterous, but not riotous.

I know a lot of people for whom Rad was their gateway into the magic of bike life. This is sad for them and for the company, who are already in a bad financial situation. I am personally not regretting spending more on quality e-bikes with certified components.

I look at this map, and immediately learn what ward Stephen Holyday represents.
There's been great strides in expanding Toronto Bike Share in recent years, but it's always felt out of sorts being managed by the auto-centric mission of the TPA. I'd very much look forward to better lad use around transit stations, and a bike share service that's unconflicted.

Barney the relatable king
my favorite Half Life 1 glitch: Because of how the automatic voice-syncing works, the security guards mouth the beeps and boops you get when they punch in codes.

(It happens to the guard at the end of the trolley ride too)

It's pretty neat how the angle of Yonge St north of St Clair just about points it directly at the CN Tower

The 3D chess of politics (and really any semi-democratic organization) has always been about controlling and deciding on *what* gets voted on.
No one in their right mind could vote against this, but they sure as hell tried to not have to vote on it at all.
Nearly every representative in the U.S. House voted to force the U.S. Justice Department to publicly release its files on the convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the culmination of a monthslong effort that has overcome opposition from President Donald Trump and Republican leadership.

Light rail construction should be an operational expense (ongoing, in-house)
ION light rail is great and we should get good enough at building it that we can picture adding ION metro

As much as "solar panels on parking lots!!" sounds like a great idea, I really suspect that the harsh realities of Canada (poor solar angles, snow loads) make this far less of a slam dunk than suggested.

This is awesome but its also the wards that need it the least. I'd be thrilled to see a store open on my street.

But the suburban wards where folks have to drive to pick up milk and eggs are the ones who actually need this! The arguments against have been so detached from reality.
Mayor Olivia Chow's motion to allow neighbourhood corner stores in all wards in the Old Toronto & East York Community Council area CARRIES 25-1.

Not a fan of yet another "suburbs get to opt-out of growing up" plan.
As with six-plexes, it's rule by fiat of ward councillors.

Part-time councillor really makes it seem like the kind of gig only meant for white collar professionals who can take (and afford) a sabbatical.
Or business owners who can farm off daily management while still cashing pay-cheques.
In general, it seems silly for cities with 100k+ populations to have part time councillors. Shrink the councils if you need to, but part time councils in medium sized cities seem built to privilege representation from dual income, upper middle class households who can make this work.
