Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets are collapsing, locking in multi-meter sea level rise.
Coral reefs continue to die off.
Atlantic ocean current collapse means Europe could soon enjoy Edmonton winters.
Our boreal forest continues to burn every summer.

But at least we'll have a strong economy.
The new Canada-Alberta MOU is a positive step for our energy future.

Meaningful investments in Pathways, clear measures to reduce emissions, and a stronger industrial carbon price give Albertans the certainty we need to move forward. /1

Canada’s top political leaders are climate deniers. There’s no such thing as “decarbonized” oil and no environmentally conscious way to increase fossil fuel production.

Mark Carney and his government are sacrificing the climate and baking in worse natural disasters in the hope of short-term profit.
People who care about climate change are “dreaming nostalgically about the past.” - Minister Hodgson

Gotcha. That explains a lot.

Another in a long list of studies showing that gender-affirming care saves lives. Yet anti-trans politicians like Danielle Smith and Scott Moe continue to scapegoat vulnerable populations for political gains. Reprehensible.
A new study reveals that gender-affirming care for transgender kids and young adults likely lowers rates of suicidality among those populations. The study found that suicide rates among all the youth who were studied dropped by over 67%.

Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."
Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

Blink and you’ll miss it. The cruelty continues with the Alberta government not indexing ADAP to infalation “instead of being pegged to the "alberta escalator" (which was the lesser of inflation of 2%), benefits are now "the amount set out or determined in accordance with the regulations."”’

I got needles behind my scapulae today & anyway my hot take is that massage, physiotherapy & chiropractic care (the musculoskeletal kind not the antivax stuff) should all be publicly covered because for all that we’d recoup the cost in terms of productivity, the well-being alone would be worth it.
