A fabricated scandal cooked up by transphobes? Surely not. Next you'll be telling me that drag queens have been around for centuries and pose no threat to children
In a functional country, this would be a scandal. A service suffering only from chronic underfunding was ripped apart because the media created a myth of 1000s of complaints of malpractice. The truth - as in my family’s experience - was very different.

NHS closed Tavistock over care complaints – there were only eight
An eye-opening FOI report has revealed that just eight people complained about the Tavistock gender clinic's care provision in 10 years.

My theory is that K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider had an affair with Christine from Christine, and Herbie was the outcome. Herbie has his father's good nature but also some of his mother's abandonment issues

There's probably a Republican WhatsApp group purely to warn each other "Don't look at your phones! He's done another post you need to have not seen"
has anybody gotten confirmation yet from Mike Johnson that he hasn't seen the post?

I love it that the guy improvising ways to resist ICE with whatever's available to him is called Calvinball.
I stand with County Executive Calvin Ball as he signs emergency legislation today prohibiting privately owned buildings from being used as ICE detention centers.

Howard County chose dignity, accountability, and its people. Tune into our event now:

Essentialism undermines feminism long-term. I've always been baffled by TERFs turning on gender fluidity when it's the key to redefining oppressive social roles.
Trans people were the proving grounds to normalize the made up term "biological sex"to roll back decades of progress on gender equality. When you get bioessentialist language, suddenly everything from gender roles to marriage becomes an argument about "biology."

I was looking for a clip of this to share. McKellen is a gem. A few years ago he was a phenomenal King Lear in London, performing 8 shows a week when he could be very comfortably retired.
Ian McKellen performs “The Strangers’ Case” speech from “Sir Thomas More” on Colbert.

One of many ironies is that Starmer probably thought sending Mandy to Washington would keep him out of the way.
Reminder: Mandelson was appointed to made a trade "deal" (with zero legal basis) with a country which is reneging on it and which anyway buys only 17% of UK goods exports.

Not convinced that's worth a scandal which might bring down a prime minister. America-brain strikes British politics again.

Johnson pretending not to understand how voter demographics interact with voting preference, the mechanisms of voting and the process of counting
Tell him: the constitution is crystal clear on this, bitch. STFU and also sit down.
Mike Johnson on Trump calling for Rs to "nationalize" elections: "We had 3 Republicans who were ahead on election day in last cycle & every time a new tranche of ballots came in they just magically whittled away until their leads were lost. It looks on its face to be fraudulent. Can I prove it? No"

Fair comment about the Beeb's excessive caution with Ref*rm.
It’s just impossible to comprehend the Reform phenomenon, least of all its electoral prospects, without addressing the racism which is both part of its appeal to some & a reason for horror & repulsion for most. If you got your news mainly from the BBC I don’t see how you’d understand anything really
It’s obviously vital Reform gets this sort of basic scrutiny which has been missing in the past, but equally Kuenssberg’s yet again intent on ignoring the elephant in the room: that the racism of both Farage and numerous of his followers is not an embarrassing bug but a central feature of the party
