I handed in the first draft of this chapter just as Covid was hitting in 2020 but now, after delays of every conceivable type and that were mainly nothing to do with me, I'm happy to announce that I'm now a published academic author for the Oxford University Press:

Wow. Just saw that far-right MP Rupert Lowe welcomed convicted criminal Lucy Connolly, who called for people to set fire to hotels housing immigrants, to Parliament last Mon.

Lowe (formerly of Reform UK) praised her "courage"

Connolly, of course, pleaded guilty to inciting racial hatred last year.

The Culture Select Committee has had more than its fair share of fireworks over the years. But tomorrow’s hearing on the BBC could be one for the ages.

Keep an eye on the two Lib Dems, given that Ed Davey has called for Robbie Gibb to resign…

Covering Jamal Khashoggi's murder was one of the most disturbing things I've worked on. Hearing Trump say he was "extremely controversial" and people "didn't like him" is chilling. Hard to take any other way than he thinks there is moral ambiguity in the murder of a journalist.

Just so: the plan is to lock the cabin doors to keep the passengers out, fly the plane into the ground and then walk out of the wreckage untouched to fancy jobs at Facebook and PWC. And if you don’t like it, fuck you.

A great day for the golden rule of political analysis: when the right wins it is a resounding ideological victory that humiliates the left and when the left wins it is a precarious fluke that will surely end up humiliating the left. Conservatives are power’s landlords and the left merely tenants

This is some truly embarrassing racism, even from the New York Post. Like none of these people have ever had families before, or been to a party, or tried to show anyone some basic respect
Speaking as a dude who has a yearly family reunion, "aunt" and "uncle" fill a role, what the fuck are you supposed to call all those other older people you're vaguely related to, do you think there's someone running around with an org chart saying who's a second cousin thrice removed or something
