DHS made a decision not to hold Jonathan Ross responsible.

So. Many. People. Don't. Know. They're. Disabled.
Advice that begins "this doesn't apply if you have a disability" is STILL bad, because your audience *may not know*.

The uncritical acceptance of ABA=good illustrates why we need not just more disabled reporters, editors, and other staff, but specifically disabled people covering disabiltiy and newsrooms respecting disability as a beat. Lot of parents-of quoted in here, but I don't see autistic self-advocates.
ABA is NOT the 'gold standard of autism care.' The lack of autistic staffers is showing here and with so many devastating Medicaid cuts to programs that serve children, focusing on a controversial one targeting autistics in this political climate is a loaded choice.
It's the 'gold standard' in autism care. Why are states reining it in?
Budget shortfalls and nearly $1 trillion in looming federal Medicaid cuts have prompted states to rein in spending on a widely embraced autism therapy, pinching families who depend on the services.
