Greetings, new followers who aren't bots!

Brief synopsis:

I'm a nerdy event planner with fantasies of writing or arting full time if I were to ever win the lotto. I'm allergic to the sun (THE SUN!!!) and am a delicate alpine flower who would REALLY love to live above the 50th parallel...
First day back IN the office (vs WFH) since I got sick, and wow, I was not expecting to be that tired!

So, guess who rolled out her yoga mat at lunchtime and took a nap like a Kindergartener...

I was pretty privileged during the pandemic (in that I didn't get sick, none of my loved ones died from it, and didn't lose my job), but holy crap! I can't even imagine thinking it was great in any way!

The latest FB Marketplace trend in my area seems to be people selling 90s era footlockers as "antique steamer trunks", and selling ACTUAL antique steamer trunks that they've painted white as "upcycled shabby-chic wooden boxes".

They won't let people work remotely (even bc of communicable diseases that spread to other employees AND THEIR FAMILIES), so OF COURSE making new parents bring their vulnerable newborns INTO THE FUCKING OFFICE instead of working from home is SO kind and generous!

It SNOWED!!!

Pickles and I were so excited, even if I only had enough energy to go out and take a couple of pictures of him frolicking.

(Curse this plague! If not for it, I'D be out there, frolicking!!!)

The last time the AIDS memorial quilt was displayed in its entirety was in 1996.

At the time, there were "only" around 40,000 panels (each containing anywhere from one to dozens of names), and it took up the entire National Mall.

I made it nearly 6 years, worked dozens of conferences, visited *7* foreign countries, but I have finally fallen to the 'rona.

I 100% blame the State of Indiana.

They banned remote work, so someone at my partner's office came in sick, which got HIM sick, which got Lil' Ms. Immunocompromised sick.

Reading letters from the Princess Liselotte of Palantine, the German sister-in-law of Louis XIV, and it's wild because she had this super informal writing style that almost sounds like modern texts

Like at one point she goes "wish to god my son didn't love holding chunks of bread like a peasant"

You had me at "borb".
S’cuse me guvnor? Spare a little cash for me Christmas offerings? A plethora of possibilities, all of them silly, sweary, naughty but niche…

Oh. And a fat redbreasted BORB…

All drawn by me using me paints and stuff (with some nods to pop culture here and there)

"a single person of this demographic may have committed a crime, therefore we must punish the entire demographic" is a policy response you may recognize from fascist governments dedicated to ethnic cleansing elsewhere.
It didn’t even take 6 hours.

Don't. Put. Your. Cooking. Grease. Down. The. Drain.
grease floats.

when it flows in sewage and into our plants, it thickens as temps fall, separating in our settling tanks.

the churning water forms grease globs that build like snowballs, and operators remove them so they don’t clog the process.

listen. don’t pour grease down your drains.
