Mum & Art of Note
Today is the anniversary of Mum’s death. She died when I was 10. I went to a ballet thing while she sat at home, at the end of hope & when I came back she gave me a little handpainted trivet with a ballet dancer on it. Later that night she was taken to hospital for the last time 🧵
My lovely mum - sepia photo Mum’s death notice at Bretby Crematorium. Featuring the midwive’s crest - more painting and calligraphy I was inspired by, the dna of a lot of my art is swathed in sadness It reads: Clark, Pamela Christine SRN SCM Constantly loved and always remembered By her husband. Children, family and friends: Lived and worked by her midwives motto "Life is the gift of God." Called to higher service.

My pastiche of Fragonard’s The Swing that I painted for my new (old) best beloved for his birthday. All beautifully - and lovingly framed in a gold, baroque/rococo style. To do art for someone is lovely. But to have them so clearly treasure it, and display it with such love? Happy sigh <Ghosts joke - And then they do it>

This is the best bit of advice I’ve seen on the internet 😂
My younger brother is trans. My parents have been horrendous about deadnaming and misgendering him. At Thanksgiving, I used an air horn to correct them. I fixed a 2-3 year long problem in two seconds. 10/10 would recommend this training method.
