I think about this quote from @georgemonbiot.bsky.social a lot:

“The idea that some people may freely poison others is one of the most astonishing but least contested aspects of modern life.”
We are being poisoned every day, so why do we keep voting for more pollution? Ask a lobbyist | George Monbiot

This thread is worth reading.

In it, Clr Kroetsch notes some of the hateful and threatening statements that he is subjected to.
November 15 marked a full three years in my role as Councillor for Ward 2. Every year, around this time, I write about another year gone by, what I’ve learned in this job, what people tell me when they see me at a meeting, stop me in the street, or share their thoughts with me in an email. #HamOnt

Doug Ford's government backs down on their proposal to enable mass evictions of everyone whose lived in their rental unit for more than 12 months.

Everyone involved in permitting this idea to make it into Bill consultation should be tossed out to the curb, like they hoped to do to others.

<$1B invested in a 100% Canadian public service to deliver things coast to coast to coast & employ 62k ppl securely? “unsustainable”

$3-$30B /yr for 147k ppl to have boom-bust jobs for private, foreign oil & gas? “necessary”

Canada nation built (and built and built and built) until the 1970s, then began the great dismantling. I'd pin it to Mulroney era when rails were ripped out across country & Chretien/Harris pulling out of housing funding/backstopping. Canada Post stuff is just another dismantling moment.
