I think I have an exceptionally low bar for the political utility of giving grace to people with terrible pasts if it is politically useful

"guy who is still an explicit scientific racist" is one of the first things I've seen not cross the bar

This is appalling: Top DOJ officials are actively pushing for a criminal investigation into the widow of Renee Good, leading prosecutors to quit en masse, NYT is reporting.

Who in the White House ordered DOJ to do this? That's the next thing to establish.

the klobuchar post is nothing. it does all the usual dem/liberal winky wink "i know whats wrong but i wont say" bs. the kim post just fucking says it. it lays out how trump fucked up and why he's bad. its so much better.

so naturally, democrats just reinstated cuellar into *leadership*

not just his seat, but one of the most powerful posts in the party
Maybe Democrats would do well not to fucking dilute anti-corruption messaging, eh?

"66% disapprove and 15% approve of the pardon of Texas Democratic Representative Henry Cuellar and his wife, who had been charged with accepting $600,000 in bribes."
Majorities of Americans say Donald Trump gives out too many pardons and want to limit pardon power | YouGov
A majority of Americans think that Trump uses the presidential pardon power too frequently and most Americans are in favor of placing constitutional limits on the president's ability to pardon

bee guys are like that. when the diamondbacks noticed a bee swarm forming on the home plate netting before a game, their bee guy left his own kid's baseball game to drive 2 hours into the city so he could calm, vacuum, and remove the bees safely. they made a baseball card of him after the fact

I don't think we're going to have a successful Amazon boycott till we break their monopoly on indie books.

They have a clever strategy to build their monopoly, which any functional government would have banned: if you want your indie book listed in Kindle Unlimited, you have to be exclusive. 🧵

Why is the "we must be united!" hectoring directed at people who are mad at the Cavers and not to the Cavers? Everyone who's mad was united, then the Cave Caucus walked across the aisle and betrayed what the public had been told was the Dem position.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

The Senate democratic caucus was only able to hold out five more days, after damn near the most resounding possible support you can get from an off-year election. The moderates just were utterly unable to stop themselves from instinctive surrender.

Just adding my bit:

Dropped my ballot off yesterday, and the local voting station was packed, parking lot full and cars down the street both ways.

The only thing on the ballot was a bond measure.

People are pretty pissed, and showing up even for the little shit.
