You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.

It’s not that I don’t like Christmas. Christmas is just so much work. Even now, when we are past the Santa years and the Elf on the Shelf years…there is still a lot of physical and emotional labor wrapped up in what feels like EVERYTHING. And somehow never enough time.

Do I want to take a nap? Yes.
Should I decorate for Christmas instead of sleeping? Probably.
Will sleep win? Maybe.

Admiral Rachel Levine saved countless lives while responding to a COVID-19 wave in Pennsylvania, the opioid epidemic, and surges of syphilis and congenital syphilis.

She deserves our gratitude for her public service. And the American people deserve leadership like hers.

This is not it.

This administration is so unserious.

Americans want lower health care costs and safe communities — not this Republican obsession with attacking trans people.

A four week Saturday afternoon pottery course sounded great in November. But now that I realize how few weekends there are between now and Christmas—and how much holiday stuff I have to accomplish in such a sort time—I am regretting this choice.

I thought she was an excellent leader here in PA as our Secretary of Health during the pandemic. I was so happy for her when she was chosen to work in the Biden administration. This level of disrespect by the current administration is despicable.

NEW: The Trump administration sent Head Start employees a six-page list of "prohibited words" for grant applications, including terms like: disabilities, tribal, Black, and women.

The administration wants to erase communities and block access to early childhood services. We'll see them in court.

1. Missouri prefiled bills are in, and the anti-trans panic continues.

One even goes as far as to ban social transition in schools.

Any teacher who "supports" it, including name changes, pronouns, or "treatment," would be fired.

Even with parent permission!

New Missouri Bill Would Ban "Social Transition" In Schools, Even With Parental Permission
The bill defines social transition as name changes and pronouns, and would disallow any "conduct that facilitates" such social transition.

My husband is a tenured full professor. And I sometimes refer to him as The Professor. So this whole thread about a foster dog named The Professor has been a DELIGHT.
Our family’s foster dog adventure continues with The Professor, an 8mo possibly chihuahua mixed with… something. Trembled when I got him, slept all the way home, now up and playing. Total lap dog.

And it’s not Professor. It’s always The Professor. As in, “Here, The Professor! Good The Professor!”

ICYMI: The City of Pittsburgh is expecting anywhere between 3-5 inches of snow in the next 24 hours.

1) Park off-street (if possible)
2) Stay home while it snows
3) Set your trash out like normal
4) Give crews time and space to work

Remember, do NOT call 311 until 24 hours after snow fall.
